OK, here's some Trivia/Help me out here pls.

Q: What the hell is the Elendilmir?

It was in the answer 2 one of the questions in the quizzes at www.barrowsdown.com but all it said was that 'the ELENDILMIR was found in Orthanc after the downfall of Saruman

(boo!). But it didn't say what it was.

You can find the info. in Unfinished Tales, I believe in Battles of the Fords of Isen. Elendilmir means 'jewel of Elendil'. I don't quite right remember what it was. I think it was a sort of jewel on a circlet worn on the head ... perhaps what the King of Arnor wore. That's just my hazy memory, though. I could look it up, but I'm terribly lazy.

what's wrong with that question? I think nearly everybody had read the answer once. Seems for most of you it was a over long time ago. Take a lock in the second best known bock of Tolkien.

The answer is Carc.

The "person" is the raven Rac, son of Carc. (Hobbit, chapter 15).

I'll have to give some thought to the next question. Be back shortly.

I don't know if this is improper, but this thread is too much fun to let it go. Since the last correct answerer has not posted another question in over 2 weeks, and if our esteemed moderator would please excuse me for any faux pax, I will ask another, (easier) one.

When Bilbo arrives at the Green Dragon to meet Thorin and company, he laments that he forgot three items.

Name one (bonus if you know all three).

The sons of the Valar were lost in the later writtings, but we get some of them even by name. But I remember only one named of the third generation. What was his Name?

Okay. Third geneartion means a grandson or a granddaughter of one of the great Valar.
And since all the talk over the son of the Vlar was lost, look in the early volumes of The History of Middle-Earth. Volume two to be precise.
