Errantry is just a poem written by Bilbo, it's not supposed to be about anyone in particular. But later he revised it to fit the story of Eärendil, the mightiest mariner of song.

do you know where the unfinished tales stem from?

the tales seem just like the SIL but in more detail

so i guess i'm trying to say why wasn't the fuller version published in the SIL

About Eowyn,
Does anyone know what her alias Dernhelm means?

She was kown as dernhelm because of her exclaimation when she realized that the rider's headgear was heavy and obscured her sight.

'Dern Helm"

Culled from Entmoot From Kirinski 57 and Wayfarer.

I can't say why it was not published in the Sil. It seems to have been a time when C.T. was still sorting things out. This is what the HoMe stem from.

Only two of the Unfinished Tales are supposed to be extensions of the tales contained in The Silmarillion. I think C. T. did actually use them in readying The Fall of Gondolin and Of Túrin Turambar for publication. It was J. R. R. Tolkien's intention to publish the long versions of the Beren and Lúthien, Turin and Tuor stories as Appendices, but of course he never finished them.
