I think there is life on other planets, but I don't think they have contacted us. I think there are things we can't explain, like UFOs! People who have seen Unidentified Flying Objects aren't necessarily lying or hallucinating, but they're just that - unidentified!
I think there's a lot of strange things right here on Earth - we don't have to look to the stars for something totally bizarre. And as people are fond of saying, "The surest sign of intelligent life on other planets is that they haven't tried to contact us."

of course there are aliens!
for a start there are vulcans, romulans and remans, then there is the klingon race, cardassians, ferengi, talaxians, andorrians, denobulans, xindi, and many others then you have jaffa, goa'uld, oonas, azgard, and others and then there are the peacekeepers, scarrans, luxans, delvians, hynerians and so on |

Haha. Well don't forget the Minbari, the Vorlons, the Shadows, the Drazi, the Gaim, the Markab, the Narn, and the Centauri.

Hey, don't the Ferengees sorta remind you of Tolkien's Dwarves?

Yep they do have an enduring quality, just like the Dwarves.

in a universe as big as this one (and i am sure there are other universes) it is ridicuolous of man to believe himself the only intelligent species in the universe, hell, we ain't even the only sentient species on this planet, let alone others

on this planet: dolphins and porpoises, orang utan, gorilla, chimpanzee, bonobo, some higher parrots and macaws, and to a degree cats. also, before their extinction, the dromaeosaurs certainly were sentient

and it's awfully hard to prove a negative; I don't think we can say with any certainty that there are no aliens.

I just think that with everything out there, it is arrogant for us as a race of people to think that we are the only ones. I dont mean any insult by it, it just is. I say it because the ammount of self importance that it takes to ignore the cosmos as a souce of life is a lot (if that makes any sense). I honestly dont really think that ufos are real, but I do think that there are others out there somewhere that are intelligent.

I, for the moment, think we are possibly the only race out there because we have never seen any real and solid proof that aliens exist. However, if a flying saucer landed and little green men with funny hairdos jumped out, yelling about the warp drive ker-fluxu-idantinating... well...

Tessar, so what you are saying is that seeing is believing. Have you seen Jesus Christ, no, but you still believe. There are stories and other items that some can say prove he was real, but they could have belonged to anyone throughtout history and people just changed it to fit their beliefs. Who is to say that evolution didnt occur on another planet. We really wont know if there is life on another planet until either we have the technology for interplanetary travel, or anothjer planet developes the technology and actually lands on earth for everyone to see.
