Norwegian Salmon Burger? Makes me want to puke just thinking about it. I'm sure not all the food is like that though - right? I always thought Norway would be a cool place to visit.

I consulted for the BPA - part of the Department of Energy. They supply eletricity to 5 states in the Northwest. A person I worked with had several pictures of this guy who was on drugs - and he climbed up onto one of the high tension lines. The final picture was not pretty that's all I have to say.

Thankfully, not all food is like that. We have Smalahove (a skinned lamb's head, eyes still intact)!

Never tasted Smalahove myself (Artanis, you've tried it?). Usually we eat a lot of...fish. And bread. And meat. Especially meat...
I don't think we have very different food from other countries.

No! A few times I've been sitting beside someone eating it (Lorry, former colleagues, old tradition), that's enough

What about - dare I mention it - whale beef?

I've eaten shark. That's very good. Whale I've been told is really oily and slimy and doesn't taste like food even.

BTW, here's a story involving Norweigans and a cat. My uncle is really Norweigan, both of his parents are 100%. Anyway he lives in America now and there's this nut next door to him. One day he came home (the nut) and found his cat pawing at a steak that was thawing on the counter. To make a long story short he tore down half the house trying to catch it, and then finally grabbed it by the tail, swung it around like a shot-put, and launched it into the woods. It came back three days later.

Really dumb story, but it's on topic, almost.

AAAAH! Horse!? That's just cruel!

That's a little girl's best friend, not dinner.

Bet it was tough though.

Yes, it was a bit tough

Horse beef is common food in Iceland, I believe. If you think of it, it's no worse than eating any other animal.

Whales are not endangered, are they?
And I guess you can get a lot of food just from one single whale.

Some species are. That's why there's a whale sanctuary just south of New Zealand in the artic circle.

I wouldn't even touch whale meat, I bet it tastes like shark.
I wont eat anything from the sea.

Why would anyone kill a whale?
Theyre so harmless.

Actually, there's not much whale meat, if any, to find on Norwegian dinner tables. There was a period some years ago with much international ado about Norwegian whaling, and then whale meat became almost 'trendy' in some circles. But not anymore.

The International Whaling Commission says they are. I believe Norway among other coutries was granted scientific catches for some years after the 1986 moratorium by the IWC.

I can't see how to kill a whale is different than a horse. It's cruel.
To kill a cow is not that cruel, since the cow was raised to be killed.

anything can be raised to be killed,
But Its not moral for certain species to die at the hands of man.

Sometimes it can be cruel how they kill the cow. I forget what the dish is called, but it's quite common (and delicious). A calf is born. The person ties it to a pole, and it is never untied. It's whole life, people feed it only milk. Then on the day they think it's huge and swollen enough, the knock it out, and slice off parts of its flesh as its heart os still beating. This entire process garantees one extremely juicy and tender, fatty lunch. There were many protests against this. I don't know if it has been outlawed yet.

That particular "cut" of meat is called veal.............IMO it's a disgusting practice.
