How's this, it didn't really happen, but you said to write what ever comes to mind.:
Last night I found a nickle, So I decided to buy a pickle. When I got to the store I found out I would need more Than just five cents So I decided to get some tents. But then I found out It wasn't enough, so I began to pout. So then I went back to my house And went to my room as quietly as a mouse. And in the morning Without any warning I jumped up from my bed and ran To see if I can Get anything with my nickle Since I couldn't get a pickle.

I'd like to make an ode to the orange,
But alas, what rhymes, except syringe? And you know, that brings an odd picture to mind, Of an orange meeting it's ghastly fate from behind! But then, it makes me ponder, Exactly where is the orange's behind, I wonder?

An echo
A whisper A voiceless cry in the night, Soundless screams in the darkness. A rip A tear A knife plunging beyond sight, Bodies falling in complete loneliness. A woman A child A victim blinded in the shadow of the light, Entities obliterated by hopelessness. A boy A man A killer chasing the endless flight, Lives extinguished with recklessness. A dream A life Ambitions once soaring free like kites, Forever set adrift, abandoned in slumber, endless.

The leaves of the branches
Blew off of the withering trees Coting the forms of the early-morning Passers by, with the golden colour They thought so bold The leaves are blown further by the wind And further and further Until But yes, They have reached there maximum And as the viewers marvel at their splendour They forget to realise That this leaf oh so vibrant with colour, is sadly living no more

Summer 2004 Western New York
Often in the open fields
I go past every day I wonder what the sunshine yields; Wheat? Strawberries? Corn? Hay? Some mornings fog hangs quietly Caressing each leaf's folds; Some days the rain beats mightily Drowning them with cold. Strange summer, humid, sticky, dank And quite bereft of sun Listen to the hearts that sank Because of cancelled fun! (And thank you, BoP, for the Orange Ode...)

how is it
that such a small thing can change the way the world views you? are we such a superficial people that something as stupid as this thing can change our standing in another's eyes? am i so shallow? do i judge so quickly? though i try to deny it, the answer is yes; and my morals and standards are suddenly worthless...

Twelve days, she said
Twelve days. Just twelve without rain In a sunny season. When was the last time I didn't wake up to a mist? When was the last time I looked out and didn't see a cloud for miles? Thunder rings in my ears from yesterday. Was it the raging of a storm Or just the sound of a down-pour on my roof? My feet get wet when I walk in the grass- Oh, my, it's been almost three hours since it rained Are we past the water at last? Maybe I should start building Get a few planks and nails Tar-paper; and a clip-board To list animals two-by-two It's been raining too much, they say I think, maybe, I like it this way. No one thinks you're weird if you're sad On a rainy day. "You should not be glad," someone said Of the sun, that bright, golden Face. "It shows you up."

She ran, naked and free
Grass staining the soles of her feet Her golden locks streaming out behind her Light luminating off of her skin Small pink lips pushing up rould red cheeks into a smile Running, dancing, loving So small, sweet, and beautiful A little cherub dancing in the medow The setting sun painting her body gold Sweet, pure, and innocent My reason for wanting a child

Laugh, they say
And smile. Why? I ask. What reason is there to smile? Cry, they say And weep. Why? I ask. What reason have I to be sad? This thing that presses guilt And shame deep down Upon my soul Is no fault of mine. How do I say I am angry At one who hears not? For my words will fall on silent ears, And tears from bitter eyes Fall on heedless grass. Two people I love Two people are dead One walks in my house and hates me The other lies alone and cannot feel. One person loves me But I cannot love in return My soul has turned to ice And my tears are frozen with hot rage Simmering far down Where no sense of mine can reach. I cannot feel, I cannot sense. I cannot smile. I cannot weep.

I'm not a car just a donkey I don't even go honkey honkey But they pick me out and take me away Oh darn, I gotta walk all day This woman is fat and has a big belly The man is too and he is smelly They need a camel, I says to me But they can't afford it, oh gee. In the desert there is no grass! What do they want with this poor little...donkey?

suddenly the sun is friendly
and the darkness isn't as welcoming as it used to be. why has it forsaken me, my companion of so long? am i turning towards the daylight world in all their smiling happiness? though i try to wrap myself in my precious darkness, i begin to find its depths suffocating, too stifling for my new-found joy. will i ever return to my once-beloved home? call to me, o night, and let me know that you will catch me if i'm blinded in the light.

I'm not a car, just a tired donkey Been walking in the sun, my head feels wonky The sun is- thank the Lord!- going down As I stumble into a little, crowded town The woman with the belly is complaining The fat fellow says they need shelter for it's raining Unfortunately there's vacancy No motel to fit their fancy So one landlord put us up in a shed Where his own donkey fed I sit down on the straw-strew ground The fat guy eases the lady down And after a while of her screaming There's a little baby and shepherds teeming And before I know it three rich dudes Bringing gold and perfume instead of food Why can't some bring in food for a minute? I looked in the trough but there's a baby in it So I plunked back down on the dried grass Oh, what a bad day for a simple.... donkey?

A thing will fall apart, being unus'd
And things dissimilar can be unfus'd A thought that once we had can be unmade And all our dreams are shadows that will fade. I could spin you a tale of times of yore Or tell you of a one that all sigh for. I could develop yarns to catch your ears Or make a sudden fright to hit your fears. All this can poets do, and, being one, I'll leave you now, my poetry is done.

write a poem
off the top of your head should i rhyme or go to bed? it seems my muse she wants to rhyme so i will type if i have time but i was mooting illegally was it rude of me? i should have been listening now my poem is more abstract but my words i can't retract this is a poem from the top of my head my friend distracts me should i go to bed? i fear i have not written each word that occured to me there's so much jumble in my brain i'd take a tumble if all were in refrain i want to correct previous lines i must resist! obey the spirit of the thread the trouble with a poem from the top of your head is you write about the poem itself and not about a real subject this morning i got up sharp at seven my alarm so loud it could wake the dead but that is good because when i'm in bed you can't get me out with a crowbar then i made a strong cup of kaffe that's coffee in swedish i learn more words each day maybe i would like a fike that kind of means snack but the meaning is deeper it talks of a social gathering usually with coffee sweden is great! i must depart for now and explore umeå and sverige (woah, that was a bit rambling, that's what i get for writing train of though eh? my train of thought was derailed at the station! )

sorry
is such a superficial word, don't you think? we go around using it often, though we're never really serious about it. it's sad, to be honest; when we need to use it the most, it's too late- it's already meaningless before we even open our mouths.

*impressed* Wow, that's really great! I'm impressed you wrote that 'off the cuff'! Hm...
Off the cuff as they say is a great expression any day! Why are my poems always silly when I try to write willy nilly?
