Hmmmmmm...I think that he'll look just right on the movie. I mean think about it...that was a white background...of course something CG is gonna look weird...but in Fangorn forest the finger's are gonna look fine because of the background and stuff.

Treebeard

I had a lot of trouble picturing treebeard at first, mainly because even though I was emmersed in a new world as I read, a talking and walking tree creature was still kind of hard to believe. Once I accepted the fact that he was there, I pictured him much as he appears in the photo, though I still hope that he looks more realistic than that on the screen. I was worried for awhile that they would leave him out of the movie, even though he played a huge part in the story, because I could never find any information about him in the upcoming movie. Does anyone know who will voice him? I think in actor with a deep, rumbling voice like James Earl Jones would be excellent.

John Rhys Davies (who is Gimli) will voice Treebeard.

Excuse me

For all you naysayers out there:

You are looking at a PLASTIC TOY for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the above picture, do Merry and Pippin look like they do in the movie? So please don't get worked up about Treebeard. Like everything else in these movies, he's gonna rock.

Yeah, it is just a plastic toy, from Toy Biz, I think. If you look at the other plastic toys, there is a slight resemblance to the characters/actors, but it's not striking. Especially the scary looking Arwen doll

I always imagined the ents with long fingers, probably because of the description of the toes.

Actually I kinda like the film version of Treebeard. The best depiction of Treebeard and other ents, to me, is the painting by Ted Nasmith of the storming of Isengard.

And, since I mentioned the storming of Isengard:

Did anyone else catch the bit in the official TTT trailer of the attack on Isengard and the roar of the Ents? You can see the tower off to the right, surrounded, at night, by something, and there is this really neat, really effective, absolutely spot-on enraged howl coming from the Ents? That really got my blood pumping to get this next two months over with ASAP....

A moral of the whole (after the primary symbolism of the Ring, as the will to mere power, seeking to make itself objective by physical force and mechanism, and so also inevitably by lies) is the obvious one that without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless." SPOILERS: Treebeard

Decipher has a Treebeard card. Looks like an image from the movie. Unfortunately Decipher just removed the card from the site . . but WotR was able to save the image. Take a look:

Treebeard

They have a scanned card image, and a small and large Treebeard picture.

(Edit: Image now gone from WotR. Sorry.)

Treebeard quote from card: "No, I am not Tired. I do not easily get Tired. And I do not sit down. I am not very, hm, bendable."

Kalimac, the link still works. Even if it gets taken down, if you download the trailer, you can easily get stills from it in QuickTime.

Spoiler

cassiopeia, the above image of Treebeard is NOT in the trailer . . it can be found ONLY on a Decipher card . . it is an image that was released probably by mistake and all the major websites have been asked to remove it. The image is on a game card that is produced by Decipher.

If you have never seen a Decipher card before they are really outstanding. All the images are from the movie. Here are a few new ones, and a link to the Decipher website . . there are tons and tons of Fellowship of the Ring Decipher cards . . and they have just begun to release the Two Towers Decipher cards. The image of Treebeard popped up earlier this week and was promptly removed by Decipher . . . oops.

Frodo Tired Traveller

Legolas Dauntless Hunter

Samwise the Brave

Frodo, Courteous Halfling

Kalimac, those pictures are really good, I might have to go and buy some cards. Regarding Treebeard, I just suggested doing that if you were desperate for a picture of Treebeard.
