When I go to Spain (ack, four days!) I'm staying in Toledo for four days. I probably won't be able to purchase a sword though. It'll be cool to see them though.

Heh. That's nothing. I have a flaming sword.
I'll post a picture as soon as I have one.

Will do, but I'll be gone for eleven days, so you'll have to wait a bit.

I don't have any blades except a Swiss Army knife, but here's a really cool site with replicas of swords from different times. And check out the Fantasy items! I really want the meteorite dagger there. http://www.manningimperial.com/
My mom has a little paring knife she accidentaly stole from my granfather's house.

Nice site... I like the malachite blade.
I wish the swords had full pictures. I've got a nice Buck skinning knife. It got me out of trouble, once...

Great sites and pictures!
I, unfortunately, have no sword, but want one desperately. There have been two occasions on which I have wielded a sword. One at the Camlin Renaissance Fair (very nice daggers and claymores.....and gauntlets too!), and the second at a kind of town fair near Long Beach. The one at Long Beach had so many swords *begins drooling*....so many..... they had claymores, short swords, daggers, fantasy swords, and coolest of all, they had an authentic Scottish sword! Unfortunately we had to leave fairly quickly, so i didn't get any pictures, but i have longed for a sword ever since that day.

Here is my sword... unfortunately I haven't the money to have it forged as of yet...
I actually have a few different designs stored away... this is my favorite. I've got a nice orkish blade (very nasty), and a couple of lightsaber designs. Unfortunately, I have a tendancy to spend incredible amounts of time drafting and redrafting before I come up with something I like... so I don't get much done.

Wayfarer, what kind of steel are you planning to have used for forging your sword?

Well, I don't really have a sword, but I've got something close! I've got three of those black knives...yea, they look really ugly, but in fact they are perfectly safe juggling knives. Well....not perfectly safe. I actually have hurt myself with them...one time in the middle of a show! It was pretty bad....I was making some high throws and one came down and the point hit me right on the wrist! Ouch! And of course it was bleeding too (although not too much). And I had to keep on with the show anyway! Hey, does anybody do any sword fighting? My brother and I do some, but we do mostly choreographed (where each move is figured out and worked up to super fast). We have a really cool one where he has a Darth Maul style double bladed sword and he kills me...It's VERY fast and looks super cool!

Cirdan-
I'm really not sure what sort of metal I want. I'm not an authority on metallurgy by any means. I think I might just go with 5160, (which I believe is quite common?) It's a bit of a bother, since I'm looking for both strength and certain aesthetic characteristics (a good silver sheen with a touch of blue). Likewise, I'm not sure what I would need to use for the crosspiece and pommel. I think plain steel is close to what I'm looking for. I'm more sure about the hilt itself. I'm going to use black bone, with silver studding. Of course, I still don't have anywhere near the money needed for a comission...

I do remember a distinct difference between steel and stainless (decorative). The steel I read was the best for a true sword is tool grade steel since it's nice an hard but not brittle and holds an edge. Of course, that would only really matter if you're planning to go into combat with it. The hilt design sounds nice. I like the round emblem-bearing pommels. A nice dragon would be cool.

I'm glad you like it, eruviel. Heck, I certainly spent long enough on those models.
Hey-Cookies for anyone who can say where that lightsaber came from. (The design comes from one of the movies.) Cirdan-yes, normal steel is regularly preferred over stainless. What I mean is I can't decide what grade of steel i'd use... and also whether or not I would go for pattern welding or something like that. But yes... my desire is to have something that I could take into combat if it came to that. Erawyn... A kriss? I think those are usually slightly longer than what's legal to carry.

I don't have any swords
but I do have two cross-bows, one compound bow and one standard recurve.
