love is..... well its hard to say. cause some people claim to love someone but really still have their eyes on someone else. well cause there was this guy at camp a couple years back who..... well never mind that it will just make me all sad and ill start reminiscing instead of sticking to the point..... ok ill shut up now.

I’ve never fallen in love with a guy. I have a had dreams with my true love, that is unexplainable. So now I’ll probably never fall in love because I’ll be looking for my true love. In other lives we've been together, and I know we were put on this earth to be together... or that could just be me, I always have my head in the clouds.

Is the question being posed in general or does it specifically relate to you?

If in general - it is difficult to say, the feeling varies from person to person and cannot be generalised IMO - some people believe it is love when you cannot imagine a day / minute / seccond without the other person (others call that obsession). To some it is love when the other person is able to finish your sentences etc.........

(I know these examples might seem daft, but I am tired)

Please just keep in mind that there is a distinct difference between love & sex - sex can be a natural progression from love, but never the other way aroung.

I've always thought of love being the same sort of comfort you feel with your family - being able to share each others' experiences, laughing with (but never at) the other person, being able to express your views without fear of ridicule, rejoicing in that person's success & crying with them when things go wrong. Being able to get mad at the person without being vindictive & forgiving and forgetting the wrongs while treasuring the rights together.

Add to all this a healthy dose of sexual attraction (which is vital to any relationship - you don't necessarily have to act on the attraction uless you feel ready) and you should be able to identify what you are feeling as love / infatuation / lust etc.

I don't think love is just a feeling. Sure, there are feelings of love, but they come and go. There are actions and decisions that go with them. What happens when you're married and you don't *feel* love anymore? Well... you obviously got married, and you chose to love that person, and sometimes, when you no longer FEEL love, it is real love that keeps it going. Also, loving someone even if the feeling is not returned... not sure that this applies to the romantic sense though.

there are different kinds of romantic love;
one kind is first love where everything you say or do seems very important. People seem to be against you. Also there is no question in your mind that you will be togeather for life. This is a very intense love and at least one of you will be devasted when it is over. This is a life changeing event wrought with danger but totaly worth it.

A second kind of love is a more practical deeper love when appreciate the good qualities of a prson i.e. kindness etc. this is a very good love it is what marrages and life long commitments are made of.

hmm so if you are just having sex with someone and it starts out as a physical relationship only but later you both develop feelings for each other and you start going out and things get serious then you cant ever love each other? hmm.... *suddenly having second thoughts about his current 5 year relationship* Better tell the girlfriend to stop all this marriage talk then.

There may be exceptions. I think it is probably unusual for a relationship to evolve into true love when sex was perhaps the major motivation to begin with. I feel that love comes more from a inner heartfelt feeling originally than a physical attraction that could grow into the inner feeling. Sex leading to love is like things happening in reverse of nature than in accordance with nature. Doesn't make it a bad thing. I just think it has a lesser chance of surviving as true love and blooming into that all important lifetime commitment and relationship.

fair enough. i suppose we'll just have to see what happens.

but to be honest I would say that pretty much my whole life my first focus when i interact with a female has been attraction (physical as well as personality wise) and not at all love. love for me is something that takes a long time to develop where as i can get a three second look at a girl and know if i might like to sleep with her. sorry.... I know that sounds horrible....

but its how ive always been.
