Loved the first one especially, Gordis. The nice touch is that Rhapsody (the woman in the drawing) really was very much a Mary-Sue too.
(Unfortunately my monitor is too dark to properly view the second picture.)

Thanks, Earniel
What? You do know the Mary-Sue on the first picture? Tell me who it is and where I can find the original, please! I have taken both Sues from an avatar site called "Baldur's gate" but it gives no reference to the original artwork. I have made the second one brighter - thank you for telling it was too dark: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...azgul1jpeg.jpg |

The second being too dark is almost certainly due only to my computer. The damn thing has a stubborn monitor that even at a 100% light setting still tend to look more than moody. But thanks for lightening it all the same.
The drawing of the woman comes from the cover of a trilogy 'Rhapsody' written by Elizabeth Haydon. I've just run downstairs to look up the book. The title is 'destiny: child of the sky' and for the cover drawing they just said 'Royo' so I don't know whether that refers to the artist, or to a company or someone holding the copyright. Upon thinking, possibly Louis Royo? A fantasy artist that I remember as being fond of drawing beautiful women. But that should help you along with your search.

Must be Louis Royo, Earniel. He has an extensive collection of Mary Sues - wonderfully drawn all of them. He is a great artist. Thanks!!!

I find Mary Sues in art are far more tolerable than those in writing. I saw a calendar with Royo's art recently, and style-wise it looks he's very much the man for this drawing.
Hmm, this thread makes me want to start drawing some tolkien-themed stuff again...

Thanks, Rian!
Mary-Sues in writing (esp. the Tenth-Walker variety who falls in love with Legolas or Aragorn) are the Plague of Fanfiction. Funny that no one (to my knowlege) had thought that introducing the tenth member into the Fellowship shoulds lead to the introduction of the tenth nazgul, or better nazgulette. Maybe it is because quite few of Mary-Sue stories are humorous. They take themselves so seriously... You should definitely return to drawing, Earniel! I love your works. |
