hehe, ya of course there was ventilation that made the smoke go outside...

But at some places where the smoking and non-smoking sections are quite near (defeating the purpose), it's so bad that when you're back home, your clothes have that awfull tobacco smell clinging to them...

The worst about that awful stench, is when you go to some bar till 3am... You wake up next day with hangover + nice tobacco smell souvenir of the night.

Maybe other people in the bar smoked then, or maybe he was too drunk to remember anything about the night (explains the hangover), or maybe - he was just lying...

noldo: i don't smoke, but it's true that a lot of people does in Spain. however, some laws have been set to restrict that habit in public places. you can't smoke in an airplane or a bus. in trains only in some wagons. i don't know in restaurants, but i think they're smoke free, because people does smoke in them.

the most recent law about smoking forbid to smoke in all work centers. that's a strong proposition IMHO and i'm not sure it be generally applied till some years have passed.

btw, the government is running a publicitary campaign to prevent people from smoking. in the comercials they compare smoking with cutting your nails in a restaurant, tossing in the neck of another one in a queue... i think smoking is bad for health and sometimes may be a sign of bad taste (when you're perhaps molesting other people you don't know, like smoking in the lift) but those comercials are just to hard, and a neat sign of the bad taste of our Health Minister.
