I am not a vegetarian or activist in any way, I wear my furs and eat meat as much as anyone else does, but these vids made me terribly sad. I love my pet ducks and to think that people still do this is unbearable. I know this is not news but people should know what that this kind of thing happens.

Makes me sick
Disturbing

I also am not not a vegetarian, but those videos made me so mad and pissed me off like nothing else has in a long time. What kind of bull**** is happening in the world that would let these atrocities happen. I eat meat, but I do not condone the suffering of animals. Those are LIVING creartures for God's sake!!!! I shook my computer desk so hard watching the last one that I partially broke one of the legs, and will have to fix that tonight.

Such bullshi*.

My dad e-mailed this to me:

ONE FOR THE BOOKS!!
>
> James Crane worked on the 101st floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center . He is blind so he has a golden retriever named Daisy. After the plane hit 20 stories below, James knew that he was doomed, so he let Daisy go, out of an act of love. She darted away into the darkened hallway. Choking on the fumes of the jet fuel and the smoke James was just waiting to die. About 30 minutes later, Daisy comes back along with James' boss, who Daisy just happened to pick up on floor 112.
>
> On her first run of the building, she leads James, James' boss, and about 300 more people out of the doomed building. But she wasn't through yet, she knew there were others who were trapped. So, highly against James' wishes she ran back in the building.
>
> On her second run, she saved 392 lives. Again she went back in. During this run, the building collapses. James hears about this and falls on his knees into tears. Against all known odds, Daisy makes it out alive, but this time she is carried by a firefighter. "She led us right to the people, before she got injured" the fireman explained.
>
> Her final run saved another 273 lives. She suffered acute smoke inhalation, severe burns on all four paws, and a broken leg, but she saved 967 lives. Daisy is the first civilian Canine to win the Medal of Honor of New York City.
>

I think it's awesome!

Sorry bub, but that story is not true (and the 'countless lives' should have been a dead giveaway).

My oldest son asked me tonight what I thought the most amazing sports moment was, and I said right away Secretariat's win in the Belmont. What an amazing, amazing horse Big Red was!!!! A 31-length win - absolutely mind-blowing. What a horse - it was his last race, and the jockey decided to give him a little tap with his whip to see what he could do ... and the jockey said he still wasn't even running all out. And people used to give Secretariat a hard time because he wasn't a classic-looking Thoroughbred!

Big Red's amazing Belmont win

I agree, Big Red's win was a truly awesome moment, that I don't think could really ever be repeated. A truly unique animal.

AAAAHHH! That cockatoo is the bombest bomb I've yet to see! (with exception of my Rosie) I love the way it squeaks intime to the music... Birds rock.

Whew, what a close for Red Rum!!! He was way back, too!

It always makes tears come to my eyes when horses run like that. Secretariat's run gets me every time, it's so beautiful.

Squirrel Pays Price For Nutty Idea

Press Association
Thursday October 25, 2007
Guardian Unlimited

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/st...d=networkfront

A squirrel had to be rescued from a bird feeder after eating so many nuts that it could no longer squeeze through the bars, the RSPCA said today.

RSPCA inspector Graham Hammond was called in by a resident in Christchurch, Dorset, when they found the animal stuck in the peanut-filled bird feeder on October 17.

Mr Hammond said the squirrel had managed to climb into the wire-frame feeder, but had then lost its svelte figure (lost its svelte figure!! )after gorging itself on the nuts inside.

"This was quite an unusual rescue," he added. "I think this squirrel had eyes bigger than its stomach." After it had stuffed itself with nuts, it had a stomach too large to escape the feeder - one which, ironically, was designed to be squirrel-proof.

Mr Hammond said the grey squirrel, which was unharmed, ran off immediately.

Presumably to the woods, to purge.

(is not the self-same squirrel, but an English squirrel nonetheless and a pudgy caution against overeating, if one is a squirrel...)

Nerdy: LOL!

SOme of those "related" videos are pretty gruesome though. Cats that are so fat they can barely move. You have to wonder whether some people are fit to own pets.

Indeed. I'm pretty sure many people aren't fit to own pets: one would hope, though, that they'd realize it themselves (just like I do ), but I'm afraid people aren't critical enough of themselves..

Yeah, I saw that! I went looking for more info on anteaters and stumbled across the silky anteater vids.

That squirrel thing is kinda sad, but really funny!

The cat wakeup thing is almost like real-life!
