Dance. Therefore:
Hard house. Uplifting trance (fluff). Tech-trance. Goa-trance. Hardcore. Progressive house. Techno. Tribal-trance. And a fusion of them all. Last edited by Andúril : 11-09-2002 at 08:49 AM. |

For now though, I'll try to describe the various sub-genres. Dance (as the main genre): Typical music played at raves; constant beat beneath layers of computer generated mid-range/trebble samples. That probably doesn't help... Hard house: Basically a pounding bass line, with relatively clean, uncomplicated samples. Samples can be extremely "harsh". Uplifiting trance: Trance is a bit of a confusing term in this case, since all of these sub-genres are supposed to induce a trance-like effect. Basically a repetitive beat, mixed with "uplifting" samples (happy tunes) Tech-trance: A miz between techno and trance. Basically it is your repetitive beat tempered with techno samples. Goa-trance: This is a combination of tech and tribal trance. My favourite. Hardcore: Ultra simplistic samples, ultra pounding, no-nonsense thumping beats. An acquired taste. Progressive house: Typical trance-like repetitive beat, with samples introduced sequentially (sometimes a bunch of samples is piled up in the first two minutes of the track, then it starts over with another set of samples, and finally they are all combined) Techno: I never though this would be so difficult to explain. I think I'll just upload a track... Tribal trance: Trance with typically tribal sounds. Another favourite. |

Hmmm, Hard house sounds good, so do the tribal ones with the modern beat, Heck, they all sound good! ( the progressive house might be annoying, too many samples back to back makes me want to punch someone) I miss dancing so much! Dance with me Anduril!

Okay. I just read your post for the third time now, and I still don't know what's what. Huh?
Are you telling me that you actually know what I'm talking about, and actually listen to some of this stuff? If so........woooaaahhhh! If not.........I'll try to get some tracks uploaded to a make-shift site pronto. But if so, mental images. I'm not sure how to react to them. |

This written communication sucks! I meant, "from your description", they sound good. All I ever hear of current music is what I play on my car radio. I love dance music, I love to dance. I used to really enjoy going to the gay bars and dancing my brains out. The disco stuff played at those bars was much better than the standard "disco" (of course) , so I probably have a natural inclination to like the dance music that's popular now. The ones I listed in my post were the ones that sounded the best (from your description) I remember Donna Summer "Four Seasons of Love" was great, I would describe it as a precursor to the techno sound, Giorgio Mordorder was a german producer who favored a Kraftwerk type sound. I dunno...

I like anything from classical to rock. I'm a big Bon Jovi and Aerosmith and anything else within their sphere. I love the new rock and pop musicals in the West end at the moment, especially We Will Rock You. I'm also a fan of Celtic music and Enya and such. Whatever mood I'm in depends on what music I like.
