I didn't, what I said was that we have no authority over whom it goes do. By all means, let us protect it, although we must acknowledge that we have no direct authority in its possibly transient ownership.

NO it isn't - we do have a role to play in protecting the oil - therefore we CAN and do have a reponsibility to the WORLD to prevent the control of Middle Eastern oil from falling into Al Qaeda hands. So yes - we do have authority over who has ownership of the oil.

Believe me - if Saudia Arabia just decided to shut off the valves and hold the west hostage - Europe, inlcuding even France would stand side by side with America to overthwow the government and gain control of the oil.
