My favourite Bands:
Black Sabbath - They Rock! Ozzy has great Vocals, And Tony Iommi is probably the world's greatest guitarist Mortiis - He is brilliant, and Sarah Jezebel Deva has great Vocals on some of the tracks on The Smell of Rain The Sisters of Mercy - The original Techno-goth, who can argue with that HIM - Not only does Ville Valo have a great voice and body, but the lyrics to his songs are excellent |

I don't know who the best band is, but I personally think the following are pretty good: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles (mainly before they became druggies), The Eagles, Stephen Wolf, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I think there's more, but that's all that comes to mind at the moment...

My music tastes seem to change weekly. Right now my new obsession is Radiohead. Their sound is so unique and artistic, especially on their later albums such as Ok Computer and Hail to the Thief. Thom Yorke's voice is so different and passionate, he's like the male version of Bjork. I've also just found The Shins, Moudest Mouse, Spoon, The Unicorns, The Thermals, and Five Iron Frenzy. My favorite bands of all time are Incubus, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens of the Stone age, Chevelle, Tool, Nirvana, Janes Addiction, Interpol, Coldplay, and The Beastie Boys.

Blind Guardian! Others are Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Kaizers Orchestra (Norwegian), My Dying Bride, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Opeth, DumDum Boys, Jokke & Valentinerne (Norwegian rock-legend), Gåte (another Norwegian band) and Metallica, all among my favorites. Subject to change, of course.
Edit: Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Nick Cave should also be there (though I haven't heard as much of them)

No. No there can't. That's like saying "best painting ever", or "best poem ever", or "best country ever", and on and on. There isn't only ONE true artist that ever lived; no one contribution of an original, genius idea is more important than another.

Well. You might be right. But for me, there is, so I made a thread like that But I can understand you don't feel the same.

Wasn't tryna dog your thread, Pytt; actually I love this thread because it's great to see what people's favourite bands are, and what musical artists have most impacted people's lives. I love it when people mention artists I myself have been influenced by but forgot to mention.

I agree with Lotesse... wasn't meaning to dog it.. Was just thinking about all the bands I like, and even some that I dont always like, and on any given day I may pick different bands. But I couldn't just say any one band is the best band ever, doing so to me then says that any other band is second rate to them. Its just my way of thinking.
I'm waiting for Lotesse to convince me that rap is music.

Oh, no; here we go. How can I convince non-appreciators of "rap" that some of it is music? I'm tremendously choosy as to what rap I like and what I consider to be noxious garbage. It's a genre I grew into over the last few years - 2Pac, Biggie Smalls aka Notorious B.I.G., L'il Kim, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Dead Prez, Wu-Tang Clan, Too Short, Game - good. Jay-z, Puff Daddy aka P.Diddy, almost anything one hears on the radio these days, and Jay-Z -did I mention Jay-Z? - BAD.(as in, extremely not-good fakes, frauds and phonies.)
I don't know how to convince non-believers. Like I said, it's a musical genre I've grown into over the last ten years or so.
