Only Darkhalcyon should know the password. Then when Boyd comes on and posts it, Darkhalcyon will tell us if its the correct password or not. If we post it on Entmoot, the imposter will just read it and post it.

Neither Merry or Pippin even gave Frodo the speech about being friends and that no matter what bad stuff may be ahead of them - they were there to support Frodo. Ask him why that side of Pippin and Merry was left out. To me that was the key reason they were on the quest.

Sorry - but Pippin was my favorite character in the books - but I hated him in the movie. But again it was because of Jackson. The script and direction just twisted Pippin and Merry's characters into two clowns.
Exactly, exactly so. Merry was my favorite in books, but Jackson turned him into a numbskull, (or ninnyhammer, if you prefer). They were just minding their own busines, and--whoops! Got carried along on a life threatening quest--um, thing. In the book, Gandalf's trust in each of them was repayed many times over. In the movie, Frodo and Sam would have done better to leave them in the shire with Farmer Maggot.

Keep in mind, the movie need some comic relief or it would have been too intense.

Jackson didn't need to turn Pippin and Merry into walking jokes though.

I agree about the walking jokes. They should have had serious moments too.

hey now, you can't fault the comic relief thing. I wrte comics, and if you don't have some sort of comic relief. you lose ppl. ANd at least he didn't make anyone else too goofy. However, i will be mad if they aren't developed in RotK.

Also, i don't think i'll get chance to talk to him myself, setsu hasn't toldme yet, so don't get your hopes up about seeing him on entmoot. I really don't want to disappoint you guy, you're all too nice to me !

Furthermore, if any of you guys are interested in GOING to I-CON this april let me know. y'all might even get to meet me. IM or PM me or something! and my email is HikariKitten727@aol.com there's a huge amount of tolkien fans, thy will probably show the trailer (they gave out FotR pins) and billy boyd will speak as well.

Thanks guys, and keep the suggestions coming!!

Didn't they?? (Thinks for a second...) They had ONE! Remember when after Gandalf died, they were sobbing their little hobbit hearts out! That was ONE! (Oooo....wow.... ) Okay, I get your point. I have a feeling, judging from the books, that their characters will gain larger dimension and seriousness later.
But for the time being, it's another question.
"Did you ever feel like your character was excessively stupid?"

I think some of what is being said about Merry and Pippin being turned into walking jokes is perhaps a little overly harsh. In the movie they do show some signs of potetial as well as comic relief. One example is how in fleeing the Shire Merry manages to deduce that Frodo is indeed what the riders are after showing that he does indeed have a brain after all. Another example is in the battle in Moria where both Pippin and Merry do face the cave troll exibiting courage and loyalty. I love the book versions of Merry and Pippin as much as the next Tolkien fan. However, let us not forget that there is some truth to the idea that the two hobbits start out quite young and foolish. They only really start to grow up when they are seperated from the others by orcs. I for one say we wait for TT then judge the characters.

Ok, in all seriousness:

How would you describe the growth of your character througout the three movies?

Was your answer to that question made at all difficult by the fact that you filmed all three movies at once?

Will we be seeing more of Pippen's serious side in the next two movies?

What is your opinion of hot baths?

Did you ever get annoyed that Gandalf called Pippin 'Fool of a took" so much of the time (at least in the books, that's what I'm annoyed about)?
Anyway, they did have serious moments! Didn't you see their faces when Boromir did his Uruk-Hai encounter? And after Gandalf died, though I sometimes think he deserved it for insulting Pip.

methinks someone needs to read TTT and RotK..

but i really hope that they keep the bit where it's PIPPIN who frees himself and Merry from the Orcs!! Darkhalcyon, can you inform your friend about Entmoot and make him (her?) ask Billy to come to Entmoot where there are thousands upon thousands of loyal Tolkien fans who would adore him while ignoring him?? that was kinda confused, but i think you know what i mean..

Yeah, then the friend can arrange a password, and tell Darkhalcyon what it is. Tell your friend it shouldn't be anything obvious.

If I was frustrating restrained angelic being I'd be pretty annoyed at Pippin at releasing an angry claustrophobic and emphatically unwinged Blarog

One of the questions I would ask would be how much did he enjoy playing the role of Pippin. Pippin (for anyone who doesn't know) is the youngest of the hobbits in the company. Another question I would ask him,I don't know if you would because it's kinda strange, would be how much he liked seeing a huge firework blow-up in his face. I hope these give you and your friend some ideas.

SOOOO off topic.

Ok, very off topic, but...but...so long as we are on the subject of character changes from book to movie...
One does not enjoy how they made the hobbits in gernal lass charming and...hobbitish than they were in the book. We see merry and pippen actively seeking adventure in the form of a BIG firework... (there were others but one cannot remeber them at this moment, stupid stupid brain!) And Frodo, poor poor frodo! For starters, he was older in the book than the movie...
Yeah. That is all.
Sorry. One is new here and doesn't quiet know yet where to go to post ones thoughts as they are numerous and often quite surpatic.

Just a reminder that the ring kept Frodo from seeming his true age.
