How about: "Lean forward! Hang on!" Viggo sounds like he's trying to do an Indiana Jones impression in that Moria stair-case bit. "He's not DEAD!" Poor Billy. His character wasn't doing so bad until that point. Anything uttered from the mouth of Denethor. To the actor: I'm sure you could have played the guy right; I blame your director entirely. I HATE the Denethor of the movies (which, I suppose, was the point, and that makes me loathe the moviemakers' decisions). "Welcome to Rivendel, Mr. Anders-- Ah-hem Frodo Baggins." Need I say more on the subject? Nearly anything said by Gandalf after... erm, nearly anything...

What about Merry when Pippin is looking at the Palantir? He says Pippin's name seven times, and it sounds really dorky. "Pippin! Pippin! Pippin! Pippin!..." you get the point.

yeah. anything said by Legolas. seriously, everything said by him is sooo pointless. let me just point out a few:
"a red sun rises, blood has been spilled this night." "a diversion." "the way is shut, it was made by those who are dead" " a lament for Gandalf....for me the grief is still too near." "you mean not to follow them?" "that is no ork horn." "they're takin the hobbits to isengard!" i could keep goin...honestly! GRR. sorry. im just NOT a fan of legolas. in the book, yes. he served a purpose. but, no purpose do i see in the movie.

I didn't think much of the ents either. I have to say though in the extended version of the two towers I thought Eowyn was WAY too forward when she said to Aragorn.
"Let me stand at your side!" Hello? How obvious was that? I mean, I love the character of Eowyn but that line made me feel so uncomfortable and embarrassed for her! Then when she said. "They stay...because they love you." That was such a give away. My mate and I were talking about the diversion quote of Legolas in RotK and we both agree that he sounds thick then. I HATED Denethor...he was so mean to poor old Faramir, especially in the EE where he saw Boromir and looked happy and Faramir thought he was looking at him but then he told him to leave. *rocks sobbing Faramir in arms* ME: There there sweetie, just forget about him! Apart from that I can't remember any quotes that I really hated.

uh, and remember that sentence from Legolas, "they are going north-east" or something like that, when the three of them are pursuing the orcs? maybe my quote wasn't accurate, but the point is "east". actually they were going north-westwards... ugh.

I don't quite remember the line (perhaps because I don't want to), but it was something Legolas said to Aragorn when they made up after their little fight. Something like "you have not led us astray"....Come to think of it, it wasn't the line as much as the way the line was delivered that resulted in me grimacing.

Frodo: Then who can I trust?
Gandalf: You must trust yourself. (FOTR EE) I can't stand this line!!! Doesn't it destroy the purpose of having a fellowship? Gandalf is supposed to be intelligent.

There are a few places LotR where I wasn't impressed with dialogue, however (and not to change focus here.... but) you could pick 2 or 3 hundred quotes from the latest 3 star wars movies that beat the hell out of any inane quote drawn from LotR.
"He was disarmed..." for instance. Anything that comes out of C3P0's mouth would work too. Anyway, just had to add that, back to LotR. |

oh yeah SW has some awful dialouge but, we either have accepted or ignored, in LOTR the bad lines are less frequent so we expect more of it.
when legolas pulls out an arrow and say "goblins" i'm just like "duhh, how did you figure that out?" half of legolas's lines sickened me anyway

let me just say i like legolas before orlando bloom, and now i cringe when i think of the letter "l"....meh...anyway, yes, he sure knows how to point out the obvious to the point of it being painful...literally...how many times must he say orcs! goblins! orcs! goblins! an the way bloom says it, he like, furrows his bloody brow and get's the would be serious voice!! AAAAAHHHH! I HATE HIM! AAAAHHHH!!! and, of course, correct my bad elvish spelling if you will, in TT, aragorn, nad nu endas [i used the sound it out method there, just read it out loud and you'll get it....when gandalf comes back] DEAR LORD I HATE THAT!!!!ARGH!!!
1 ************************************ 1 this rather long line of asterisks replaces a rather long bit of cursing and violence, when we resume, orlando bloom is begging for mercy and i am perspiring slightly... anyway, i hate him....and yes, i stole that joke from the bartimeaus trilogy, book 1...it was funny...
