Off to think about Beryn's entrance. But I'm guessing she'll notice the giant pulsing ring of lightning accompanied by earth tremors a bit before a small flying lizard...

Of course, if she's looking at the attention-grabbing portal when the lizard flies out...

First post up, I'm thinking Beryn may have misinterpreted the situation...

I really should get Baru in before anything else happens. I won't have time to write until this evening, but I'll try to make a post then. I'm planning parts of it in my head while I'm doing other tasks ...

No worries! I was planning on waiting until you'd had a chance to introduce Baru before starting work on another post.

No time tonight after all - if I post something now, it will only be rushed, so I'd prefer to leave it, probably for a couple of days. My tax report is due on Tuesday ...
Edit: Tax report submitted a few minutes ago, at 1.20 AM - but now I'm collapsing into bed ...

Glad you got the tax report done on time, Varna! (those things can be rather tricksy...I usually sort out my dad's, and they seem to change the system just enough to make it less than straightforward every year).
Please don't worry about rushing your post - there aren't any deadlines for RP so just whenever you've got time and feel like writing.

That looks really good, Feawen! Great to have you joining us.
I'll PM you about ways we can introduce Anahera to the story - should be interesting to have someone unfamiliar with the world around!

Anahera sounds like an interesting character, Feawen. I'm curious, ss she from an existing world out of a book or does she come from a newly made-up world?

Whenever you like
The portal's going to close once she comes through, but we've all seen it now so that's okay.

I've managed to work out the details of my hobbit character. Didn't find anyone suitable in the family trees so I've made him up. I'd like to bring him in a little later than just now, to give me some time to concentrate on Beryn.
Name: Indigo Bolger Race: Hobbit Age: 61 Physical description: Indigo is your average-sized Hobbit. He's a bit leaner than his more sedentary kin as he does a fair bit of walking. But he moves food as well as any Hobbit. He's got dark brown curls and blue eyes. His clothes are of a good style and good cut. He has a favourite blue vest which he pretty much always wears. He has a back-pack with food and some gear and a shoulder bag with art supplies. Personality: Indigo is very out-going and cheerful, but never being inappropriately so. He is observant and as curious as any Hobbit. He is not particularly adventurous despite his Took-descent. History: Indigo is the third son of Mardagar Bolger and Amandava Took. As the youngest child of five, Indigo was a bit spoilt by his mother. And as third son, he had more freedom in choosing his profession. Indigo choose to become an artist, supported in this -as in everything- by his mother. His father, somewhat begrudgingly, gave his consent after seeing that Indigo was not a hopeless dreamer and actually had some talent for the art business. Indigo is now a locally well-know artist in Frogmorton and surrounding areas and his aquarels and portraits hang in many a Hobbit's home. He is not greatly gifted, but his work is decent and attractive enough to provide a comfortable living. His father is a well-off merchant, currently in Minas Tirith to negociate a trade agreement. Indigo had asked for and received leave to travel with his father and oldest brother to Gondor and then to go his own way to paint the Gondorean landscapes. He intends to travel Gondor for a year, or longer if his funds allow it.

Excellent hobbit, Earniel! I look forward to the group encountering Indigo somewhere along the road.
I loved Baru's distinguishing between the different ways of being lost. The second sort can be rather nice! Great intro, Feawen! One point though - we've established the portal this side isn't ground-level. It's not too high up since the dragon fell out of it to no ill effect, but it's still going to be a noticeable drop for Anahera when she comes through.
