Try an old film, I.Q was good, wow I loved that Einstein!

I'd say Moulin Rouge and Life as a house. And a knight's tale.

You could try the movies by Pedro Aldomovar. Spanish, quirky, and funny. "Talk to her", "Women of the verge of a nervous breakdown", or "All about my Mother", and more titles I don't remember at the moment.

"Bridget Jones's Diary" is a sweet and humorous movie.

Blackboar, I think "All About My Mother" was the 2000 Best Foreign Film Oscar winner.

If you like Hugh Grant, "About a Boy" - a lttle quirky, but warm-hearted.

OK, just finished up The Princess Diaries - very fun and light, just what I was looking for! They didn't have Brideshead Revisited (I like Brit humor), and their foreign film section was abysmal - oh well, I'll have to wait until I'm visiting Artanis' house to see those movies she recommends .

(scans back thru list) Yes, JD, Driving Miss Daisy was wonderful! I just saw the last little bit on tv a few weeks ago - really tender and sweet.

Yes! I saw the series in my teens and since then I've been in love with Jeremy Irons

Bad for you, European films are very good. Bille August, Pedro Aldomovar, the Kaurismäki brothers, Fellini, Andrei Tarkovski, Francois Truffaut, etc.

"All about my mother" was a really good movie. "Talk to her" - do you mean "Habla con ella"?

Yeah, because I have heard of that movie, but they didn't translate the title into german and left "Habla con ella".

this is one of the most challenging questions in a long time hmmm so foreign is what women want in that case
Young and Dangerous - an interesting look into Hong Kong Triads (it falls into violence though so that might not be good)
hmmm mum has a Beautiful Mind on DVD so she must like that...
im sorry all the movies i know and love are all violent

I've watched "Life as a house" again last evening and if you really want to cry, watch it.

Life as a House? Was that that one movie with the mechanised, intelligent house that went cooky?

"Brideshead Revisited" isn't exactly a comedy, (though some of the earlier bits are very funny- it's a BBC TV mini-series) unless the decline of a young homosexual aristocrat into hopeless alcoholism and dementia is an example of British humour- which is possible .
