Imagine what our ancestors must have thought when they saw an eclipse. 'Eek! The moon is gone! It's an OMEN! There's going to be war and famine and pestilence!'

Hey Coney - do you have the dates on those lunar eclipses due next year?
Glad some of you got a nice view of it. I'm a little bummed out - we had a totally overcast sky that night. Nice and clear the night before and the night after - and the moon was shining bright... but not a sky in the clouds on Saturday night! I had my 5-year-old anticipating it too! So... good to know I have next year to look forward to. |

Lunar Eclipse
I missed the moonrise and the beginning to totality due to a mountain and some clouds being in the way, but after it clkeared the mountain, the clouds parted enough to see the totality, and then the the waning of the eclipse. It was awesome!

I got to see it during the football game. When we started the pre-game show, it had just started. When we went out for half-time, there was no moon and when the game was over, it was just finishing. Very cool.

Another Lunar Eclipse tonight... commencing in about 3 hours, I think.
This one is supposed to have orange 'Halloween' effect! Next one - I think I saw, is not until March, 2007.

OH, that's right! I forgot about it, because I doubt we'll be able to see it - it's pouring rain right now, and supposed to rain during the eclipse 6:15 or so Calif. time.

Full eclipse at 10:23 Eastern. The moon will be surrounded by a redish-orange glow.
Spiffy.

Totality ends at 10:45 CST.
The unveiling shall be as grand as the veiling!
