Well from LOTR I favor Gollum and Gandalf. As for other books:
Margaret Alton Hastur from the Darkover series Jill, Puddleglum and Lucy in Narnia Chronicles All characters in The Last Unicorn Moiraine and Perrin and Min from WOT Scout in To Kill A Mockingbird Mara Jade from the Star Wars novels Memorable characters for me are Peter Pan (because thats the first story I ever remember hearing)and The Little Match Girl. Oh yeah also Quasimodo, The Phantom of the Opera, and Macbeth. |

Re: Fave Characters
I'm trying to think of characters who are really different from any specific "type" or somehow stand out to me. And mostly I get very attached to characters who have to change drastically for the better.
Jean Valjean Anne Shirley Gandalf Hamlet Marvin (Hitchhiker) Martin the Warrior Frodo Eustace (Narnia) Pip (Great Expectations) Frankenstein's monster Piggy (Lord of the Flies) Viola (12th night) hmm... |

Re: Favorite and most memorable characters
Lady Catherine de Bourgh (from Pride and Prejudice):
"I am most seriously displeased." "If I had ever learned, I should be a true proficient." Nick Bottom: "Methought I was -- and methought I had -- but man is but a patched fool if he will offer to say what methought I had." Ebenezer Scrooge: "There's more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!" There are too many for me to list. |

And I think I will throw in Huck Finn, Aragorn, Elrond, Elwing,
Sam, Merry, Pippin, Frodo, Thorin, Smaug, Eowyn, Faramir, Boromir and Denethor, and Lew Alton from Heritage of Hastur et al., to add to the previous. Lady Catherine was great! Love her too. |
