Keep in mind that Star Wars was heavily influenced BY Lord of the Rings. I mean its not a coincidence that they are similar. So its kind of disingenious to pit them against each other. Its like having a battle of the bands where the Rolling Stones is taking on Muddy Waters. (Ok sorry for that reference for anyone under 30).

We are the Knights Who Say... Ni!
I love Monty Python too! But if it comes down to LotR and Star Wars... that's tough.
It's very hard to compare a book and a movie. Two totally different media, totally different settings, everything! However, based on their similarities, I'd say that LotR is better. edit: spelling

Finally someone who likes Star Wars! I'm with you eowyngirl, I probably like them both equally. I've been a Star Wars fan way before I had even heard of LOTR. I read the SW books, too. Have you been reading the New Jedi Order?

I like Star Wars too, I just like LotR more. I did enjoy the Timothy Zahn books that were made after the movies too. What were we talking about?

I really love both of them, but I definitely say that I love LOTR more than Star Wars. I mean, the books, the movies, this whole world. Nothing is as georgeous as this stuff.
But I think the work of George Lucas isn't bad. My mum said, that Star Wars seems to her like a cheap copy of LOTR and afterwards I just smiled because in an interview George Lucas said he was inspired by Tolkien.

I love both, LOTR and Star Wars. Star Wars caused my Hayden Christensen objection. Hahaha.
