Happy 4th of July everyone!

I just got back from work. I'm exhausted! I took a nice shower though, and now I'm going to enjoy our little feast. (mostly vegetables, brownies^^ and the peanut butter sandwich I put in the fridge yesterday )
I watched a little of our parade (that went on in the pouring rain!) from work, and it was really lame. There were like, trucks with flags stuck on them. And signs saying "vote *** for sherrif/other things we're voting for soon".
I tried to wear a red shirt (and blue jeans) to be patriotic, but I wasn't feelin' it so now I'm wearing my California shirt. That's about the extent of my Indepence Day celebrating. But man, those guys, when they signed the Declaration of Independence, that was really brave. I'm serious. So..er, yeah.

why do you say USAmericans, its not like any other country calls themselves American. Its things like this that started up arguments and caused people to bash each others countries

No, it wasn't nice. It was honest. I'm not glad that he's gone nor am I sorrowful. He was entertaining to talk to but he didn't respect me and, consequently, I didn't respect him. I won't miss him and I'm sure the feeling is mutual. Either way, it's really none of your business, though it is interesting that you felt compelled to comment (rather sardonically). However, I take no offense, since our respective opinions of the man are clearly divergent.

Hope you all had a great Independence Day!

My was rather pleasant; spent the day with my family, saw a movie, had a barbeque, and ended the night watching a rather spectacular fireworks show.

Lots of fireworks, mosquitoes, and non-stop sibling rivalry...what fun! (now for a week of Boy Scout day camp! )

If you read this JD, Happy 4th, I'll be thinking of you.

While I am sure we are all saddened to see JD leave the 'moot let us not be blind to his faults. gollum9630 I think you'll find that he was a frequent flamer and the reason many members who could not take his torrents of sarcasm and abuse were driven from the board.
I agree with Radagast and olsonm, with the exception that I didn't find him entertaining. He was one of the reasons I stopped visiting on a daily basis, and posted so rarely over the last 12 months.

Hope all those celebrating the 4th of July had a safe and happy holiday.

Exactly, let's resist the temptation to look at him through rose-tinted glasses and the old 'don't speak ill of the dead' convention. JD may have been a friendly chap occasionally but for most of the time he was an abusive, sarcastic pedant who drove members away in their droves.

FYI, anything that you post in open forum on this board is my business. Understood?

I don't think it's about looking at him through rose tinted glasses. It's about getting to know him and what kind of person he really is which few here do. Frankly, I would rather have a hundred JDs at Entmoot than one, of some others.

If this place weren't pg-13 I'd copy and paste a few things here that show "what kind of a person he really is"

Of course he was.....but that was his nature. Still a shame to see the top poster go tho'. But on the plus side, hopefully a lot of the members he drove away will start to post again.

Like the PM that he sent you that you provoked him to in open forum? At least it was off the board.

I seem to be hearing those 3 little words: pot, kettle, black.

You misinterpreted. My personal reasons for not missing JD aren't your business. I didn't flame him, I simply said I wouldn't miss him. I decided to explain because you seemed concerned. *That's* what I was talking about in my post. Have you ever had a problem with me challenging a mod's authority or decisions? Didn't think so. In fact, I remember sending you a PM a while back supporting some of your controversial decisions. I hope this clears up the confusion.

Anyway, hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday.

You're right. However, what I commented on was what you posted, and what you post is my business.

I never said you had ever defied moderator decisions or anything else. and yes, I remember when you PMd me in support. what does that have to do with this? It was my opinion that what you said wasn't polite. Am I not allowed to have an opinion, either because it differs from yours, or because staff shouldn't?
