In the Political Compass I was
Economic Left/Right: -5.88 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.41 . Just like Ghandi! After reading the The Communist Manifesto (thanks Ruinel ), I understood that both communism and social democracy developed from Marx's view; neither one of them is marxism. The book was actually very interesting to read, but I'm not saying I agree with it. Has anyone else read it?

I'd rather do that too, but i had to choose a book from a list in school, and the Darwin book had sooooooooooooo many pages!!!!! It would have been interesting, though.

I got Economic Left/Right: -4.88 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.44 which is weird, because that puts me to the left of the Lib Dems Janny, I think extreme Communism is a phase a lot of teenagers go through. Maybe those are the ones you've met

After taking the test, I discovered I am in the Libertarian Left with Nelson Mandela, Michael Moore and Al Franken.
I'm sure Valandil will be shocked to learn this... (heeheehee) Yep. That's me all right -- er -- left...

Economic Left/Right: -4.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.67 I'm slightly to the right and more anarchist than Gandhi. I think I'm hanging out with Nelson Mandela. EDIT: Oh yeah, I meant to add, that though idealogically communism is a fine idea, there's two fundamental flaws. 1. It provides no incentive to do well, since all jobs receive the same income. You end up with Ladas for cars. 2. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. If you put only one person or political party in charge, an egalitarian society will quickly become two-tiered, with those in power exploiting the system. (You see him repressing me? You saw him didn't you! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!)

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 3.03 Hmm, that doesn't sound like me... Yes. Communism: Ultimate disadvantage: As Nurv said, you get Ladas for cars. Ultimate advantage: Would we have the phrase 'take that you commie b******d!! ?

Oh the Greens in Britain are quite nobodies I assure you.
But funnier are the natural law party. The policies follow thus: (ish) People are inherantly good. Therefore, reduce police force and trust criminals to be nice. They also believe in levitation. Now, you don't know where, if anywhere, I stopped telling the truth.

I do, you didn't.
I was a little bit suspicious of that chart thing, groovy though it is, as I don't think of myself as being THAT left-wing. So, it's interesting to see a range that goes all the way to +5. Ruinel, the Greens are environmentalists: into recycling, decentralisation of power, saving trees, etc. And yes, they get hardly any votes. Though I for one am considering voting for them next time, simply because they're the only party it doesn't make me feel physically sick to vote for. There might be a few similar leftists who will never vote for Bliar again. The Natural Law Party are nothing compared to the Official Monster Raving Loony Party, whose policies include changing the traffic rules so that cars drive on the left and buses on the right. |

The Greens barely have any seats here as well, though there are worse parties that have a lot of votes...like FRP.

Gaffer, the left / right is economic only. I came out dead centre despite my right leanings because you had to be right to agree with the right, but not necessarily left to agree with the left stuff. eg: Bottling water, only for the right. From each according to his means, to each according to his needs is the fundamentals of Communism, but you don't have to far left to disagree with it in principle . Incidentally, Mr. Blair's name is spelt BLAIR not BLIAR. An honest error I'm sure.

On my political scale I got
Economic Left/Right: -5.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.85 Right there next to the Dali Lama. And I think that the idea that water is good for communism is true. Here in Seattle, WA, we have quite a few bands of communists and socialists. REVOLUTION TIME!
