Speaking of voices - did anyone else think it was cheesy how when Gandalf appeared to Aragorn etc. they used Saruman's voice and then blended to Gandalf's? I know there's supposed to be some ambiguity but for some reason this cheap trick bothers me. I guess the voice just don't fit

Give it to Andy Serkis. They could then just cast dumbledore as the first person whenever he's there (as the camera).

Ooo, someone quoted me, I feel special. Spork is a joke between my friends and I, a takeoff on "gag me with a spoon"
I think it would be really funny if Christopher Lee played Dumbledor, because he is so evil. oo, and whoever said that if McKellen gets cast he should say "You shall not pass!!" to the dementors, that really funny. That would be so cool if they actually did that.

I know for a fact that Christopher Lee is not going to play Dumbledoor. As I was surfing the web last night, I came across an article where Lee claims that he is too busy at the moment [to play Dumbledore]. What with him being Saruman and Count Dooku. (LOL He has the funniest name in Star Wars!)

Can't see how?
I'ts only 4 words. If they ripped off an entire monologue of his, then possibly - but with that little I should think they'd be on the safe side. |

Hmmm...
Well, my first thought about who would do a good job playing Dumbledore was Ian McKellan.....but I'm sure we won't find out until after the new year about whom is actually hired...rumour or not...
Another thought I've had recently about a good actor to play him is Patrick Stewart from ST:TNG. Just a thought.....

Eowyn, Eowyn, White Lady of Rohan, in this hour I do not believe that any darkness will endure!" And he stooped and kissed her brow. |

I think they just need to get Harris's double to play the part.

From theonering.net:
"E!Online is reporting that Michael Gambon, who has been seen in many recent high-profile films including Gosford Park, The Insider, and Sleepy Hollow, will replace the late Richard Harris as Professor Dumbledore in the next Harry Potter film. This puts to rest rumors that our very own Gandalf, Ian McKellen, would take over the role" |

Oh, no. You cannot do this! That is wrong, wrong, wrong!!! Like casting Christopher Lee as Dumbledore. I mean, I thought the old Dumbledore was kinda wrong (sounded too much like a weak old man) but he was OK. Gandalf - Ian McKellan - that would just not be right. And I heard that they tried not to cast big names in the movies, so people wouldn't be looking at the screen and saying "Look, there's Ian McKellan" or whatever.
Please tell me this is just a rumor. Dear Iluvatar... Lanelf.

NO WAY!!!!!!! They CANNOT steal Gandalf to be in some lousy kids' film like Harry Potter of all things!!!!!! In fact they can't steal Saruman either. I would chain myself to the studio door and refuse to leave until they set the poor wizard free from such a horrible fate if they chose Ian Mckellen!

Obsenename, (interesting name...) My friend just called me and told me that Micheal Gambon is going to play Dumbledore. (She also read it online, though I am not sure what website...)He's from Dublin Ireland and was born on october 19 1940. That makes him about 63 years old. I wish that Ian Meckellen had taken the job... oh well. This guy should be good!

I heard that Gambon was playing the role as well, but when I checked on google last night, there was nothing coming up. Hmm.

Yeah, I saw it on e-online. What I meant, was that I couldn't find anything else on google to confirm that.

I found this in a newsletter, confirming that Ian will NOT be playing Dumbledore (thankfully)...:It is Gambon.
"Harry Potter's getting a brand new headmaster--and his name isn't Ian McKellen. Contrary to rampant tabloid reports over the past several days claiming the current Gandalf portrayer would pull double wizard duty as Hogwarts' Professor Albus Dumbledore, E! Online has learned that another acclaimed British thespian has in fact been tapped for the role vacated by the death of Richard Harris. But McKellen never seriously considered the role (he's already done the franchise thing with The Lord of the Rings and X-Men) and producers ultimately went with Gambon, a classically trained actor who studied with Laurence Olivier and whose credits include Gosford Park, The Insider and the lead in the British miniseries The Singing Detective. " I am so glad that Ian isn't playing in Harry Potter...after watching him in LoTR, he would look too awkward.....don't you think? |
