I'm so sorry Valaroma. This is so awful, and I can't doubt that everyone here will miss Blackboar a lot. She was a member of the Weavers of Legend and posted some really nice stuff there.

My deepest sympathis.

Car crashes are some of the worst kinds of accidents in the world. A large number of people all around the world are killed in them every year. An even larger number of people are injured in traffic accidents, many for life.
Relatives to those killed in the traffic, and survivors of car crashes get really chocked and depressive. They can be mentally ill for years to come. Traffic accidents can also have a huge impact on people who don't even are related to the victims.

Traffic accidents are dead serious stuff. They sort of poison everything in their environment. If someone you know has been involved in such an accident, talk with people! Otherwize, don't joke or lie about it. It is not appriciated.

I am very sorry to hear that. I offer my deepest condolences.

I heard about something similar several years ago and used it as the topic of my Bar Mitzvah speech in 1998. It still relates, so I thought I'd share it.

Quote:
A few weeks ago, I received the strangest e-mail I had ever opened in my life. On my website, which deals with the books of J.R.R. Tolkien, I have a survey that I call the Tolkien Poll that allows visitors to tell me their favorite Tolkien character and book. When people fill out the poll, I always send a short letter thanking them. When school started in September, I was so busy that I didn’t have a chance to write these thank-yous until early October. By that time, some poll responses were already a month old. Oddly, I received a reply to my message a few days later. I was shocked when I read the contents of the e-mail: “My grandson Joshua must have participated in your Tolkien Poll. Tragically, he was killed in an auto accident Sep 4. He was a fan of Tolkien. I would be interested to know what he wrote. His grieving grandmother and family, Betty”

I looked through my old e-mail and saw that Joshua had visited my website only days before being killed. I thought that this was very creepy, but it didn’t end there. I replied to her message with condolences and a copy of what Joshua wrote to me, and she answered with another message. This time I was told about Joshua’s life, and the days before his death. Apparently, he was doing very well in reading and surprised everyone in the ninth grade by volunteering to be tested on The Odyssey.

He would have started eleventh grade in September had he lived. Like me, he was a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien. The grandmother told how the day before he died, he visited another student who had a powerful telescope. Joshua had a much weaker one at his home and his vision of the sky was impaired by trees, but the other student was amazed at Joshua’s immense knowledge of astronomy.

With her descriptions, I felt as if I knew the boy personally. I replied by describing the books and characters that Joshua selected as his favorite. I hope that I provided her with a glimpse into her grandson’s life that would be impossible to hear from him directly now.

I realized once more that life was short, and that you should live it to the fullest extent. I did not know Joshua, and yet I could share the grief of his passing along with his family. The thing that bothered me the most, however, was that I waited too long to send my thanks. Joshua never received it. I was troubled that I hadn’t told a fairly trivial matter to a person I didn’t know. I wondered how much worse I would feel if I had waited too long to say important words to a person I knew and loved. I will always remember that it is never the wrong time to praise or thank someone. If you wait too long, it could be too late.

And so, I thank you all for being with me on my Bar Mitzvah. Your presence means a lot to me.

Rubbish. How dare you steal one of my photos and make up this horrible lie. For all you shocked readers, that photo is from my website http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/spooky/ which I created to try to educate young drivers. The website depicts several fatal motor vehicle collisions which I have attended throughout my career as a Police Officer. The particular accident in question occured some 8 years ago in Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia. The photo has been on my website for about 7 years.

How disappointing that somebody can take one of the photos and manipulate an intelligent forum such as this, just to gain attention.

You think she's making it all up to gain attention? I don't think anyone would claim their sister died to gain attention, Spooky. Be nice at least.

Did you look at his website? It's his picture and has been on his site for 7 years. How is that her car then that was supposedly in an accident on Aug 5th. Also looking at the pictures - there isn't a store around. So where was her mother getting milk from?

This is the series of photos from that accident that Valaroma claims was her sister's car. You tell me who you believe - SPEED KILLS..and if that doesn't, the sudden stop will!

This thread should be closed because it might bring up painful things (be the topic true or false). But we've decided to keep it open to hear what Valaróma has to say.

Until then, I reserve my opinion.

Agreed. I would NEVER use death to get attention for myself. Too many lives are lost anyway; it's just not worth the attention it brings in.

I'll be surprised if we hear from Valaroma again, at least under that name.

Ok...Blackboar? Whatever....

I've benefitted from reading our Entmoot members remarks. These are good thoughts to digest, no matter what. Traffic accidents are devastating, because someone is there one minute, then gone for good in another instant. It is so very hard for families and loved ones to digest the instant shock and lifelong sorrow that follows. Entmoot members have posted positive, helpful sentiments which will resonate in minds. Thanks people!

I don't know what to say. Valaroma may be right, or Spooky may be right. I don't know.
But if you are telling the truth, Valaroma, my deepest sympathies towards you.

yeah thats why i asked now when did this happen cause it smelled really bad from the start. and it was quite obvious it was a fake once you went to the site and read that the person in the red car was in the driver seat not the passenger seat like she said. also it was rather strange that she was busy in the happy thread talking about happy things if her sister had just been killed a week before. But who knows maybe its a classmate of Emily or an alter ego.

Edit: whoever contacted spooky nice job. i was thinking about doing that myself.

Still think the poem is nice though for whatever its worth.

Thank you Spooky for your information.

While I hate to think that anyone would fabricate this kind of story to exploit Mooters' sympathies, now that one part of Valaroma's post has been proven false (the picture), it casts doubt on the rest of it.

If this incident occurred, we are all truly sorry. Unfortunately, Spooky's revelations have made us skeptical.

I'm going to close this topic. I will be contacting you, Valaroma, via PM to get an explanation. If I don't receive one within a timely manner, we'll be forced to assume that you made this all up and we'll take necessary action.

In case this is a misunderstanding, we will be happy to re-open this topic, but we need to hear from you.

I'm proud about how warm and kind the Mooters are, and (allegedly) playing them for fools is not appropriate.

If anyone else has anything to say about this topic, please PM me and don't start another public thread.
