Is "bored of the rings" a book, or is it online like "V. Secret Diaries"?

Further Tuna thoughts - (overheard in Tirion) : "Fingolfin's house? Sure - right by the corner of Sardine and Anchovy!"

Funny you should ask this after I just posted in the "proverbs" thread about it. It is a book. A parody of LotRs. It is hilarious.

he is usually called Ganon but one of the chicks that you rescue from a crystal (i think) says that he is gandorf the thief or something, then she says, "no, gannon, the [something]". i guess he was originally called gandorf though. i am not sure. it's been a while. i usually quit before i get to that part.

Oh, that's right - I forgot about Farmer *ugh* - I hated even saying that word when I was reading LoTR out loud on our LONG car trip - I think I just said "the farmer". Yuck!

I dont know whether it's just my northern dialect, but Boromir is like 'borrow me a' tenner or something..I always imagine him to be a right scrounger....
and 'more Goths' is something I really do dread.

Gondolin reminds me of a gondola.

Boromir in Chinese sounds exactly like 'jackfruit'.

Faramir = Ferrari

Turin = a certain Italian football stadium

Gulf of Lhun = Fingolfin's golf course

Sam = the old grumpy shopkeeper uncle near my house.

The French word "malgre" (there's an accent over the e, but I'm too lazy to put it in) reminds me of Maeglin.

I suppose it should technically work the other way - things in Tolkien's works should make me think of the real world, not vice versa - but that just goes to show what little touch on reality I have.

We named my dog Pippin when we got him about 6 years ago. The only problem is that we didn't name him after Pippin in the LOTR books (I was in 4th grade, I hadn't read them yet!), we named him after Scottie Pippin (basketball player) because my dog is a scottie dog. So now everytime I read the books and see the name "Pippin", I always think of my dog (which is unfortunate because Pippin is my favorite character!)

Also, we just finished reading Lord of the Flies in my English class, and everytime my teacher said "Lord of the..." I'd perk up, only to be let down by him saying "Flies". Lol, dunno if anyone else has had that problem...

I also think of LOTR when I hear "Lord of the Flies". I read it in English class too... well, I was supposed to read it. But that's another story.

LOL! So many of these sound familiar, especially the LOTF thing...

The funny thing is that LOTR and LOTF have similar names and were realeased around the same time, but its very hard to be more different in regards to story

It's very amusing to try and figure out what parts LOTR characters would play in LOTF... thus is how I spent my english lessons studying that extremely odd book...
