They said ,"Si!"

Cate Blanchet was... perfect! I think she was the perfect Galadriel, in that no one could have played the part better. And it helps that she's beautiful.

Hugo Weaving looked Elrond-y, I just he sounded Agent Smith-y sometimes. And some of his lines were out of character.

I think that Elrond was just too direct in saying Arwen she should leave Middle-earth in the movie. He was much more subtile in the books I think.

I thought she looked a bit smirk-y.

I thought Cate Blanchett looked great, although not like the most beautiful woman on earth. But she has an exceptional extraordinary beauty.

Cate Blanchett is so beautiful! But I can see why you would say 'smirky'. I would not describe her this way, but I can see why you'd think that.

Cate Blanchett kept looking like she had a little inside joke going on there lol

Elrond....he worries me. In the books he really just didnt seem to be so angry. But at one minute in the movies he's telling Aragorn about his mother and his destiny, and the next he's tellin him to get his hands off his daughter! lol

Galadriel is so wise, maybe she does have an inside joke going on. She's even wiser than Elrond, so maybe he just hasn't reached the stage where he can be humorous about all the dark and terrible knowledge he's burdened with.

I agree. I have come to a point where I can accept him now, but he is far from my favorite. I would have never cast him because of the whole Matrix thing. He sort of "is" Agent Smith to the general public now, and that takes away from LOTR.

As someone said above, he acted well and played his part well, just a mis-cast on PJ's part.

He is much easier to take in the opening scenes of the Last Alliance and the flashback scenes, but then comes across as a scrooge concerning Arwen and the Ring.

In the opening scene, where he's all greasy and dirty, I think he looks a bit like an orc.

One scene in particular I did really like was when he was leading Isildur into Mt. Doom. When Isildur turned away I think Elrond looked badass in his armor and with his cape flying in the updrafts from the chasm. That rocked.

I thought he looked good all sweaty and dirty! I'm glad I've never seen The Matrix; there've been so many comments about Hugo Weaving being seen as his character in that! Since I never saw it, I thought he was fine (although I agree that PJ made him too negative, I understand he was using that character to get some stuff across to the audience, but it's too bad they didn't get to see more of his nice side!) [I do want to see The Matrix, though, I've heard it's good.]

You should definately watch the first matrix before seeing the second, it's really good. (but LoTR is better! ) I want to see the second Matrix but it is strange seeing Hugo Weaving played in LoTR and in The Matrix...It's like seeing Harry Potter as a hobbit or something...

Just don't go and see Priscilla: Queen of the Desert...Elrond in drag disturbs the mind.

Hugo Weaving was in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert!? I'd heard it was funny, but that just takes the cake. Now I've got to watch it.

I had it the other way around. I saw Matrix after FotR and was constantly thinking of Elrond when I saw agent Smith
Elrond in drag though, he-he

Edit: It's difficult to spell 'Elrond' today

Thats the problem with actors, you'll probably remember them playing another character all the time.
Can you watch a film with Elijah Wood without thinking of Frodo?

The only other film I've seen with EW is "The ice storm", and that was some years ago. He was cute already at that time

I've seen Cate Blanchett in other films after LotR, but luckily I didn't think about Galadriel when I saw her, she was so different.
