I Just recently played all through the first Super Mario Bros (on gameboy...its an exact copy as the Super Nintendo game).
I took me only a few hours I did it several times too (in a row) and gained many points. I don't know if this feature was on the SNES, but after you beat it, its gets harder and it took me a little longer but I beat it again. IP: how was world 8? When I first got the game for GB, I got up to 8-1....took me about a month to beat 8-1, then I couldn't get past 8-2. When I picked it up a month ago, I figured out how to beat it...then I was able to beat the whole game in about 2 hours (ive gotten very good at it - useful skill ) The other Mario Bros - i beat the classic arcade game (easilly)...but I only got about 82% finished with SMB2 - its harder and im too lazy to figure it out. I know I already said this, but like all the old mario games and good super nintendo games that everyone liked are all out on gameboy - or coming out on it. Also old class arcade games. This is good for me - because its the only system I have I'm barely old enough to remember the original Nintendo Entertainment system and SNES. But barely. I do definately remember these though. I don't remember SNES being released though..too young...but I remember playing it before N64 came out. Kids YOUNGER than me won't remember any of these old games at all.

Also Commander Keen I and part of II (liked it, but lost the floppy ), Jill of the Jungle, and part of Monster Bash ('twas all right, but not great; never got around to finishing it) Also played Donkey Kong Country several times, loved it to bits, played DK some, but never finished it. (Hmm, am I seeing a pattern...) Super Mario Bros, yes, played, loved. Super Mario Kart, played, sucked. Emulators! Roxors!

I adored Donkey Kong Country, but I never owned it, just rented it, so I was never able to get very far - maybe to the fifth world or so (the factory one).
Level 8-1 in Super Mario Bros. is a veritable marathon. Holy cow, it's long... certainly one of the most difficult levels in the game, aside from some of the castles that go on forever if you don't take the right path, and some nasty Hammer Brothers spots in World 5. I, for one, do remember when the SNES came out. I got it when it was bundled with Super Mario World and nothing else was out. That's the kind of story I can tell my grandchildren. I actually liked the original Mario Kart, but it was one of the few head-to-head two-player games for the NES I really got into. (The Street Fighter series is a different issue entirely.)

And rightly so. You should get a ROM for it. Awesome game!

There's emulators and roms. The emulators "emulate" a certain gaming system, and the roms act as the games for the system. With matching emulators and roms, one can play NES, SNES, or even N64 games on a PC.

Oh, goody, another thread where I get to be an old lady!
We had one of the first Ataris, and I loved space invaders, super breakout, Pac-Man (of course), Pitfall, and the very best one -- Adventure. Later my brother got a Sega (this would have been around '87) and had a game on it called Duck Hunt, that would play a little song each time the game would begin, and we made up these goofy moves to it. Then video games became too complicated for me. I tried to play some Mario Bros. one at my brother in law's house a few years ago, and I couldn't do ANYTHING. I guess I just miss the good ole joysticks, that you could actually manipulate, rather than the little thumb controls (okay, no pervy jokes). VERY early computer games: Gummer (a rip off of pac-man) and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which was, IIRC, a type of role playing game. This was around '82. |

Ah, the Commodore game of Hitch Hiker's Guide! Now that's old.
As for Duck Hunt, that wouldn't have been a Sega... Duck Hunt was a Nintendo release. A lot of later NES bundles had a Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt combined cartridge. I, on the other hand, have an original Super Mario Bros. cartridge where it stands by itself.

No, they were a little different. Same story line of course.
To name a few I like: Bust A Move Harvest Moon Dr. Mario all Mario Bros. (of course) Snow Bros. I bought a Snow Bros. catridge a while ago. It was the last one the store had, and only 12 bucks. So I bought it in a hurry and brought it home and played it but couldn't get it to work. So I finally looked inside at the bottom, and found that thing was shattered. Idiot me! But it makes for a great coaster. I can't find an emulation of Snow Bros. anywhere. Does anyone have one they'd like to send me?

Oh my God, SNOW BROS.! What a game! I remember having it for the Game Boy, and playing it all the time...

Mario brothers.
Frogger. Zelda Donkey Kong. That's about all that remains in my memories. I had Virtual Bart. Bart Simpson in a time machine or quantum machine or some such. And Zombies ate my Neighbors. Heh.
