Centipedal force? That would be the force of a hundred little centipede legs, while peddling a centipede bicycle. Centipedal force! Hoo-ah. I should track down the Pictures thread; I've got a hankering to see a centipede on a bicycle right now. For real!!

Anybody want a beer? I brought a case of Grolsch - great dutch beer.

Here's some interesting info about centipedes.

Everything I need to know I learned from my books. Really. I love learning. I don't need a class to teach me nothin'! Just ask Leonardo DaVinci, who taught himself to write, albeit backwards.

Not quite physics...that's physical science. But it applies to physics in many ways. For example (to use the example put forth by Brian Greene, but with different names), say that Baxter the cat was to take his ruler and measure around the outside of a torus (say, in space, a ring-like space station that "creates" artificial gravity through rotation, or centrifical force. A more exact term would be a Stanford torus), while I measued down the center, assuming there was a tunnel to connect the two opposite "sides" of the rotating torus. When I used the radius to calculate the circumfrence, I would find that my calculation would be higher than Baxter's, because distances contract in the direction of motion (or acceleration!), in an effect known as Lorentz contraction. But here's where it's tricky: which of the two answers is correct? The answer to that is that both Baxter and I have a correct circumfrence to the torus, despite their difference. That rule of multiplying the radius times Pi (I don't remember the formula, and I'll be looking it up when I'm finished posting this), only applies to a non-moving circle.

LOL!
Oh, you use Wiki, too? That's my favorite place for reference! I'm on there now looking up the equation. I was correct in what I was thinking. It was c=2r times Pi.
Now I'm looking up the same types of things for spheres.

Actually, that's not what I meant. I meant centrifugal force or centripetal force depending on the usage...
Wouldn't it have to be a centicycle? Since they have 100 legs... and it would have to be pretty small, too.

I see you are at it again, my friend. You're once again posting all these interesting things. You have also mentioned that name again, Brian Greene.

Why not? It's not Bud light, so I won't look like the rest of the local ghetto kids.
Oh, and here's something for you all who are not avid in classical music:
I am listening to the Carmina Burana. You know, the one that EVERYONE likes? I can ask anyone and they will say they like it, provided they know what it is. Ask Sminty or Nurvi or Earniel (I think) and Ellemire, etc. etc.

Well, you've got to read that book! The fate of the universe depends on it! Well, no it doesn't. It depends on the fate of the universe. It clarifies things.
Did you all know that I learned ALL of this by myself, on my own time, on my own computer and in my own books? And I am a slow learner. This book is so clear it's like I've been shrunken to the size of a quark so I can (almost) understand the other seven dimensions besides time, and the "quantum foam", and the six types of quarks with their "colors", or rather, names of colors being used in this case to describe their charge in terms of the strong force.

Actually, I've just replayed it. I lost my CD long ago, and I like this recording better anyway. I also found the lyrics online. Imagine the luck.

Mybe I will, after this project. Then I will go and see about your slow learners book and hope I have enough time in the day to read it.

You go to school, don't you? There's plenty of time there! I get there early, read till the bell rings, then beyond because it's my English class and we read for twenty minutes daily, forty on block days. Then I read during my digital art class, because I'm usually finished with my projects quite quickly. If I could read in PE, I would. I read while waiting for others to finish tests, I read all of lunch, ignoring anyone who tries talking to me because it's all a bunch of so-called smart remarks and hedonistic nonsense anyway, then I read for a few minutes during math. Then there's science. I finish everything first, always, so I'll read while the other kids are barely starting. I then read at the bus stop, on the bus, and then that's usually it until I get home, when I go onto wikipedia and read there.

You also obviously have an insane amout of energy so that you can have all that free time in class to read. I lose all my extra time/energy back in middle school when I actually slept at nights.

LOL! Those were the days for me! I used to stay up all night back then, and still go to school all day, then moot when I got home (on the rare occasion of my computer working).
Oh, I found the name of that physicist. It's Lisa Randall! That's it! Lisa, not Linda.

Oh, and anyone who has tried to e-mail me within the past year: I have finally changed my address so it is now classicalmartian@yahoo.com rather than rodents4me@yahoo.com. I have, however, reactivated r4m, and I have yet to decide what I'll use it for.

Good evening Tessa, TB, and the rest of the moot.

*makes self a carbomb and an italian sub*

Yes, weird combo but very tasty.

Bringing back the Picture Search Thread is a great idea Tessa. Rev kinda wounded it asking for a pic of a pill. I'm still looking for one but it seems it doesn't exist. O-well.

Ciao, Farimir! I'd love a sopressata san, but not with a carbomb, with an Italian Moretti beer. Or two. And I really want to see a fish wearing sunglasses in the Pictures thread, and not a drawing, but a real, live fish wearing sunglasses. It can be a good painting, a professional looking and smooth painting, but no scratchy drawings and no cartoons. A fish in sunglasses. Yeah.
