I posted the answer in the post right above yours, Radagast - its dart-throwing, shooting at the wand, bowls and ninepins. I don't know what any of them are but dart-throwing, but Barrelrider110 just asked which ones were mentioned, not how they are played . GO ahead and take my turn, if you want, or someone else can if they get back here before you do.

I think it was Tom. It doesn't say who are the first two talkers.

"mutton yesterday...blablabla...tomorrer" said one of the trolls.
"never a blinking...bla...enough" said a second. "what the 'ell william was thinking..." he said jogging at the elbow of william who was taking a pull at his jug. william choked. "shut yer mouth!" he said..."yer cant expect...bla...and be et by you and bert. and so on" So, we have no idea who said the first quote looking only at it. then we see the second quote. a second troll talks to the first troll about william. if we assume that the second troll is indeed replying to the first troll, as he seems to be doing, we can see that unless the second troll refers to the first in the third person, the first troll cannot be william. then we have the third quote. this must be william talking, who, as we said, is not the same troll as the first troll. william is talking either to bert or tom, as we know the other troll to be named, because of later developments. we can safely assume that when william talks, he is replying to the comment that was just made by the second troll about him (about william). so, then when he says "you and bert", if he is indeed replying to the second troll, which seems to be the case, "you" is the second troll, and bert is the only one left, the first. so according to this system of logic, the first troll must be bert. |
