I'm learning to throw a knife, I'm not sure how valuable a skill it is but its fun, I need to buy some balanced ones though.

It was always hard when they called for a counter-canter; the horses would hear the "lope" part but not the "counter" part and try to take up the correct lead. Or if they happened to call that when you were going around the curve - it's always hard to start a counter-canter on an inside curve. I always liked the halter classes, too, for some reason.

We have a halter horse that is wandering around our pasture doing nothing, but because we don't have time for him too and our performance horses don't have a chance in the halter the way they have bred them to be steroided monsters, so we don't show in the halter anymore. I won grand-champion gelding at the local 4-H show with my first horse though and they gave me this big fancy ribbon and even though I have won bigger stuff since then I am stil proud of that. My horse hates the turns on the hind-quarters. He is mostly thoroughbred, and he only did the western pleasure when he was young, so he never learned and isn't physically prone to it. He is getting better though. He placed at the Congress and won the Sun Country Circuit in the western pleasure when he was a 2 and 3 year old, so he was really really good at that. Rambling again... That seems to be my habit. One time on my first horse we were doing a Haloween party for 4-H and were playing simon says. He told us to counter canter, and being a good kids horse, my horse swapped leads and I got thrown out. Oh well, anyway, yeah, besides, um, not getting anywhere here. I hate that in the horsemanship classes now they are asking for more extened trots and counter canter and hand gallops than in the english.
That would be cool if you daughter showed horses! I didn't like them until I was eight, even though we always had them. Then I decided I loved them, and the whole quarter-horse-showing-big-time mess started. Now it is like all we do. We have shows the next - uh- five weekends, because my mom is getting qualified from World so is our trainer on her horse, becuase he hopes to get in the finals on him. We have only had the horse for a month and a half, and the trainers for five months, and now I have to get qualified, my mom has to finish qualifying, and our trainer has to get another 17 points. He has been getting them a lot at a time but still... I will be quiet now.
