I know what good movies are. Believe me I have quite a collection of rare and hard to find films. Intriguing ones, that most people cannot see the beauty in.

What I was wondering, was, 'What does Nauti-pus, perceive as good?'
(you can learn a lot about someone by asking them questions)

Vampire movies arn't really my thing either, they lack that sense of realism that I so crave, but I will watch that one.

Hail Bela! For the beginning of film Vampireism!
And for bringing beauty to death...

Bambi has a lot of f*up views in it, anti logging, anti hunting, Whatever happened to the only the strong survive mentality? Bambi and Disney as well, is a complete joke. They teach children happiness and flowers when that isnt what life's about.
None of my children will ever watch a disney film.

Or television.

And I completely agree. Bambi is probably the more boring Disney movie of all time

What do I perceive as good? Hmm...interesting question. To me, it's good when it has a plot that grabs me, but by the soul, not the lapels. Like I said earlier, October Sky is one that did that to me. And most people see good movies as ones that are sad, and I agree to an extent. I dont really like movies that are all about "Oh, whoe is me, my life blows, what'll I do", I'd rather see a movie that goes along the lines of "Man, my life sucks. But you know what? I dont care. I'm gonna give the best I got and if i die trying, then I died with honor." I agree that a meloncholy spirit can bring out the best in people, or the worst. And i like to see movies where people dont so much stand up, but believe they can, and do. There's a relatively new western out that has that sense in it but I cant remember the name. In any case, to me a good movie is one that really grabs me. That makes me kind of go "Hmmmmm", if you get my meaning.

The Devil and Daniel Webster, 1941. Interesting, entertaining, amusing. And fairly well acted, especially on the part of the title characters.

Now, "Bambi vs. Godzilla" - that's a great movie.

Agree with you on both counts.

The political/historical implications caused a stir in the Chinese world- here in Taiwan there was an audible gasp from the audience at the end- the equivalent might be a film about George Washington where he is slammed as a traitor at the end -for Americans, of course; the Brits might cheer.

Great! The book is far, far better.
Hated the movie, because the director makes a mockery of Heinlein's beliefs (which I generally disagree with myself). Be warned though, large chunks of the book deal with political philosophy- it was written as a polemic in response to calls for the US to quit testing nuclear weapons.

Sounds good. I'm trying to find a place to get it so that I dont have to order it offline, but it's definately next on my reading list.

Hey, I agreed with you on one point.

Honestly, I think my dislike of the movie had to do with the dub-over.

I like that movie. Very well-acted and well-told; the film has a good and interesting message, but isn't pushy about it. The two principle actors play so well off of each other--"This is a rescue??! What am I supposed to do now?! Call 911??!??!" lol!
