OK so i saw Seed of Chucky, and it was quite amusing, i would enjoyed it more if i was in the mood for it, but i was in the mood for a "nice" movie, aka Secretary, Ed Wood or yes, GS... Nevertheless i did enjoy it, Billy Boyd did a great job as Glen/Glenda, i especially love the birth seen when he flips and dresses up as "Glenda"
As much as i was in the mood for a soft movie i stilled enjoyed seeing some gore at the cinema...

"Wives and Daughters" (originally by Elisabeth Gaskell, made into a miniseries by BBC)

Exceptional. I really loved it. Haven't read the actually novel to compare it, tho. Sun-star?

Is that the newest one (only made last year)? If so, I loved it too. It's fairly close to the novel as well. I read the book afterwards to compare.

One of the most notable things they changed was that Mr Bell doesn't propose to her in the book - when I was watching the adaptation I thought that part was peculiar and consoled myself that they didn't have much choice because it was in the novel, but it wasn't... I expressed that really badly But it was a great adaptation.

I thought the actress playing Margaret was particularly good, especially since I'd only seen her in a sitcom previously. And the actor who played Thornton is apparently 'the new Mr Darcy' for female fans

the jilted man? I can easily see that (and agree )

Margaret....you mean Justine Waddell?

I thought Mrs. Gibson/Claire did an excellent job with her part. The character is so shallow; She's not necessarily coniving/decieving all the time; things just don't always go through her brain!

Million dollar baby, and what a ****ing cool movie that was... If Hillary Swank doesnt get best actress i will... words cant describe the horrors i will unleash.
Ohh so much about this movie rocked. Morgan Freeman is such a cool mother****er but he has been lifted to a greater pedestal after this movie, loved the bit were one of the boxers at the gym starting bashing the **** out of Danger (a bit of a loser who has high hopes for himself) and MF comes back in breaks it up then knocks down the boxer it is equal with Sly in Rocky V when Tommy knocks Paulie down ("you knocked him down, why dont you try knockin me down now")
such a sad sad movie.
Hooray for Clint Eastwood, ohh and you will recognise the music from Mystic River in it

I've just seen The Great Lebowski! It was awful! Very good. I know where Millane got The Dude from( I am right?). That character was really cool. and the whole movie was a bit weird. but really good. The Cohen brothers make really good movies.

Well...you should see Wives and Daughters, and I should watch North and South!

(or me read both)

I just saw Waterboy. It was probably one of the worst movies I have even seen. I pretty much can't stand Adam Sandler's acting. (I couldn't even sit through all of Big Daddy, ye gads.)

However, it was so bad, it was good. The fact that I could actually watch the whole thing is a step in the right direction.

Just saw Alien Vs Predator......lots of build up, the fight scenes could have been much better, they really dropped the ball there. The first two alien and predator movies had a lot of mystery and suspense (and ugh!-gore), this seemed to try and answer some questions I guess. Still, a good rent, glad I did. I'll have to check out the computer game version. Oh, I WANT one of those predator ships for myself....sigh

Oh, Nurvi! you don't mean that!? Both those movies are really good. I like Sandlers acting a lot, not of my favourite but he is not bad. He is very funny.

And thanks Millane

Humour, as an art form, is subjective. Adam Sandler's brand of humour largely does not appeal to me in the slightest, with the notable exception of "50 First Dates". I also can't stand his perpetual sneer.

What put me off Big Daddy is how he taught his adopted son that people getting hurt is funny. Maybe it was done to further outline what an irresponsible moron his character is, but that was already blatantly obvious in the first five minutes of the film, when I realize that I do not care about the 1-dimensional, spoiled little rich boy who works one day per week, and whose girlfriend is going to dump him because he lives in the past. To her, I say run like the wind.

I saw the first half of Seabiscuit and won't be able to finish it for at least a week! I absolutely love the movie; I've read Laura Hilldebrant's book already so am quite familiar with the history.

I think Big Daddy is a similar storyline (some what) to "About a Boy". The two don't even compare beyond that. Adam is nervous and weird while Hugh Grant drips cool while just watching TV. "About a Boy" was a good story because you took the journey with the 'boy' as well as Grant. Very cool. Uh oh. My sensitive side is showing...

One movie I loved Adam Sandler in was that flick he did with Wryder (sp?)..Mr. something or other? Anyway, he plays a small town fellow from New England who inherits a billion dollars and is flown to NYC for shenanigans and excitement. Crazy Eyes was hilarious! Oh, and “Sneaky Sneaky” buttler…LOL

Anyway, brilliant movies.

Ray. Nicely acted. A little wierd, though. I was never a big fan of Ray Charles's music.
