Fish is meat. Meat is evil. Therefore eating fish is evil. therefore EG is evil.

I think if you consider yourself a vegetarian then you are. What does that mean, a more "serious" vegetarian? I am a wild wacky vegetarian .
I think I posted several pages ago that there are different terms for different kinds: 1. semi-vegetarian (which your friend would be) -- eats no red meat, only poultry and/ or fish. 2. lacto-ovo vegatarian (that would be me): eats no meat, but does eat dairy and eggs (you can also have lacto vegetarian -- dairy only, or ovo vegetarian -- eggs only) 3. vegan -- do not eat animal products of any kind (some get very "picky", like no products with any trace of any kind of animal part or product) My brother is this. I don't think length of time has anything to do with how "serious" you are about vegetarianism, but has to do with how committed you are to actually following a vegetarian diet for the long term. Come up with a snappy answer to that girl (I am not good at thinking them up, but something like "well, then using that logic I'm smarter than you because I've been using my brain longer" or something like that -- hey, I said I'm not good at coming up with those!) |

My definition of a vegetarian: A person who does not eat meat.
My definition of meat: The flesh/muscle tissue of an animal. I'm a vegetarian who eats no meat, but does eat eggs and dairy.

Well, I'm still not eating chocolate. Yay me! Cheese on the other hand. I'm still being sabotaged at every opportunity!! *guilty look* Well, I've managed to cut out every cheese, except for goat's feta...

Well, so long as it doesn't use rennet (stomach lining of baby cows), it's vegetarian, right? Or are you trying for veganism?

Yeah: feta uses veggie renet. I'm not sure about veganism. I'm thinking that if I can get cheese out, then I can try cutting out milk and butter as well. But veganism is difficult for eating out: there's just no guarantee - and I eat out a lot. I haven't eaten ANY cheese with normal renet since I said that I was giving up cheese. Maybe I should just say that I'm giving up non-veggie renet cheese?

I don't see how you can be a vegetarian whilst still eating fish. Fish are living creatures (BTW, I think fishing is wrong as well, just cause they can't say ouch doesn't mean it doesn't hurt them). A vegetarian is someone who does their best not to eat the flesh of any creature. I say that because it is very difficult in modern society not to eat some part of a creature. I've been a vegie for since Febuary and I havn't knowingly eaten meat. I still eat milk, cheese and yogurt (I can't give up chocolate ). I sometimes have sinful thoughts about hamburgers though.
