To us, yes. To an editor, no. I made the cover of the Sunday times in the mid 90's sitting on Santa's lap (with my name spelled wrong as always), the Calendar section in 2005 with a poem, and several very minor entrances. I also made an Irish newspaper being the only three-year-old to sing "Yellow Submarine" on Karaoke night at the local Irish pub.

VENT: Just sat through another god-awful class. Much worse than the first. My section really sucks.
Looking forward to the most exquisite torture this school-year...

My twin brother was in a car accident last night. The doctors described him as being in 'critical but stable' condition.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I sincerely hope he recovers well and quickly.
Hang in there.

Thanks. I just got off the phone with him. Apparently he has fractured his pelvis and an arm, his spleen is lacerated, and his left lung has a contusion. He didn't exactly sound chipper (pretty groggy), but he sounded all right. They are probably moving him out of ICU tomorrow; they're still keeping an eye on the spleen and waiting for final results on X-rays of the pelvis, though. When I asked how long he would be in the hospital, the guy said it depended on how they would divvy up the the therapy between inpatient and outpatient time, and we're looking at 4-6 weeks of therapy. Whether he meant therapy total, or as an answer to my "How long in the hospital", I don't know.
Apparently, four other people were injured, but none as seriously as him. This just really, really, fricking sucks. He was supposed to come this Friday to visit for a few days. What terrible timing. I was so looking forward to seeing him.

I'm sorry your brother got hurt Gwaimir. 4-6 weeks could even be how long he's in the hospital. I hope he has all the best care. I hope you get the chance to visit him in the hospital, I'm sure that would really cheer him up.
I hope he has a speedy reconvery.

Of course! Best wishes! He sounds worse off than my mom was, though at least he's not on a respirator. *shudder at thought of having something doing small, simple tasks for me* I think that would mean total time, but that depends on how often the therapy sessions are.
(Once one has ruled out the rest of all possible worlds one finds that this is the best of all possible worlds...)

Thanks for the sympathy, Joni, Nerdanel, Liz, BB, Shee, and Nurv.
I'm very sorry to hear about your brother, Lizzie. You're right, having a twin is awesome. He and I are so close. I don't know if I could get to know him any better. I plan on taking a Friday off, or something, and flying up there to see him for a week-end. Not just yet; he's basically sleeping all day, apparently. He's conscious, and all, but he's gettin' a lot of beauty sleep. But once he "wakes up", he'll be bored to tears, I'm sure, so I'll go up and see him, and bring plenty of books for him to read.

My brother is still in ICU. They detected a drop in bloodcount, which they thought meant that he is bleeding from his spleen, but their tests haven't detected bleeding. They're still keeping an eye on them, and they had to give him a blood transfer.
They also have to keep him in an oxygen mask, apparently because fluids are getting in the contused lung. I wish it would just go without complications. And on a more minor note: They had a farewell lunch for Fr. Michael, my favourite priest, and I completely forgot about it! Urggg!
