Sorry I wasn't one yesterday, I was still recovering from Paul's funeral. Standing room only. Great to know he had tons of friends before he passed.

Parenting.

But, on funerals:
At my volunteer job there was a great old guy that put in a ton of hours every year. Most of the volunteers are retirees anyway. One day at the end of the season he said so long to everyone. See you next year. Season's over. Time to go home.
The next day he had a heart attack and died in bed.
It felt so simple, how he had said goodbye to everyone and the next day he was dead.
Everyone from our organization was at his funeral. It was really wonderful.
Now there is a tree at our organization deticated to this guy and how much we enjoyed his company.

Now, onto NEW LIFE. I like kids. I wanna have some.
I want to adopt a little african girl and give her the whitest name possible!

Huh?! No, I worked in military radar for 10 years. Never been a librarian. Search with my name and "librarian" and it will come up nada. Search with my name and "radar" and you'll get some hits.

I mostly worked military air traffic control radar stuff, so I knew what they were doing in the cockpit on 9/11 with the transponder, and knew it couldn't be stopped I remember being so frustrated, knowing they'd turn the transponder off and what it would look like on an ATC screen ... heck, we used to simulate hijacks to exercise the programs.


edit to add: 52 hits for radar. 9 for librarian, mostly in the Wraiths rpg where my character was talking to a librarian. I don't know where you got that idea :shrug: Is anyone else here a librarian?

edit 2 : hey, the last 4 letters of "librarian" are "rian"! Maybe that's it!

(ps - you should consider the field, TB! It's very interesting. My dad was in airborne, and I was in shipboard/landbased. Those 10 years were great years - I was lucky enough to be in research, and we had one of the first plasma displays in the country at the time - great stuff for out-in-the-field transportable military ATC systems, much better than CRTs - the MTBF (mean time between failure) is really high with plasmas. I think it was 10,000 hrs or something like that. And now they're all over the stores!)

I know! That's the part that bugs me. There was someone here who was a Librarian. I want to know who it is. They used to be a real active poster. And they were very like Rian in manner. Maybe that's what gave me that impression.

Sorry, Ri. I'm already quite sure what I want to do. Unless that can be pracitcally applied to high energy particle experiments...

Hahah, thanks Hector and TB! Hector! I swear, you read minds! I actually did that to a guy. Not a terribly bright guy, but none the less! I'm starting to have fun with this one eyed business. Still sucks when I walk into things or trip, but I'm starting to develope a sort of radar, its like a spider sense. I have been able to check myself from walking into/tripping on things five times so far due to this developing sense.

Rock on, now to go see maggie and maybe see if I can still ride a horse with this.

I would TOTALLY join if there wasn't a war on and I'd get killed (Oh, and my parents would disown me and my fiance would have a fit)

My step-dad was in MI for many years. A couple summers ago he took us around where he used to live in Germany.
