Thank god!

But really, that's how US politics works. It's the swing of the pendulum. Things get too conservative and the liberals get power, things get too liberal and the conservatives get power. It keeps things from getting too extreme on either side.

Hey, if Hillary comes to power, it'll be the worst presidency ever, and then we'll really win...

What everyone does not seem to realize is that we have a long time until this really matters, in november it will start to matter, what is going to happen is all of these candidates are going to fizzle out and they'll no longer be news.

Haven't fizzled out yet! (At least not the ones we wanted to.)

"Burkha Pelosi" wore a headscarf while in a mosque, just like Laura Bush and Condi Rice did. In Islam it's required for a woman to cover her hair in church, just as it was in many Christian churches (Catholic Canon Law up until 1983, I believe), and still is in some; just as is called for in the Bible (1 Corinthians 11), just as it is for Orthodox Jewish women, just as is customary for women having an audience with the Pope. She did not wear it when meeting with Assad, who is a secular leader.

In general it's considered respectful when visiting places of worship to follow the rules of your hosts. Of course, to the sort of dork who wanders into St. Peter's Basilica wearing shorts, flip-flops and an "I'm With Stoopid" T-shirt, there might be a problem with this.

I don't think Pelosi wore a burka...just a headscarve. Not really a big deal there. The big deal is what she might have said to Assad and others...

Not that this trip is unprecedented. Kerry (and he didn't wear a burka either)( and others have done the same as Pelosi, with zippo results.

The headscarf isn't really the problem although it was a very funny picture, ( has anyone noticed how unphotogenic she is? )

The problem is visiting a country that sponsors terrorism.

Yeah...I do have a problem with that...but: Pakistan sponsors terrorism too. I think working with Assad and turning him into an ally would be do-able.

HOW we do it is another question, and I suspect Nancy gave him the usual "oh, it's all our fault" etc etc...

I don't have a problem with amnesty; I mgiht actually end up voting for Brownback, even though I'll be a Democrat by that time. He's not as bad as some republicans...
