Hero. Beautiful movie. The best Chinese-flying-martial-arts-people movie I've ever seen. I still thought Curse of the Golden Flower was better, but the scene where the girl is killed in combat, and all the slowly falling-leaves changes from bright orange to brilliant red...that gave Curse a run for its money.
Oh you have got to be joking...that movie was a laugh-a-minute romp. One of THE cheesiest "serious" films I have ever seen.

And Gwai, oh, I know, huh! Rammstein makes me want to shove rusty forks in my eyes - or in the band's eyes, actually, would be better... Horrific noise.

I saw part of the first one at a friends house once (he was a die-hard Godfather fan, it was all he ever watched) and it just didnt look very good to me. In my own opinion, my taste in movies is rather warped, so dont look at me as the average movie-goer. I dont know, though. Maybe my tatse has changed, I'll rent it if you really insist.

I used to like Rammstein :hide

But then again I have the weirdest taste in music.

And movies too. So what movies do you prefer, Nautipus?

I thought Hero was pretty good when It first came out. They worked hard to make it a pretty movie. ...And it was, but thats about all it has going for it.

I just seen Children of Men and It was a good show but I hate how movies end these days. They end leaving you saying what the hell was that?!
Thats all I am going to say.

Pretty much anything off the beaten track, but I like movies that are just good. You know, that have a good message and have good characters to carry that message. I really LOVE horror flicks, some sci-fi, few westerns, and that's about it. I'm not that diverse.

Well horror movies usually carry a cudgel more often than a message, unless the message is: stay away from dark forests!!!

What are your 10 fav's? Of all time?
What exactly do you mean by good movies?

I just seen Transformers and Wrong turn 2, last night, and I liked wt2 way better. Possibly because I had a very low expectation for that one. Transformers, eh, not my thing really.

Horror is the only genre.
(I don't care if there is no message, as long as it grasps my attention and then I perceive it good.)
In other words, if it has guts in it, I will probably like it. Probably.

The message could also be "stay out of Japan". Gee, I watched Grudge 2 last friday. It was kinda scary, but I thought it should be way more frightening. But the scene where the journalist is watching the recording, and the screen is suddenly turned off, was creeepy. But I think I've had my share of japanese grudge movies for some time.

Last night I watched Kill Bill V.1 and was actually pretty bored. Quentin Tarantino has a great visual sense, but I can't help but feel that the guy needs more interests besides movies, because all his movies are about movies. It's like he can't create, only re-create.

I do plan on watching the second Volume, but only to be fair to "QT", since I haven't really finished the movie, so shouldn't really judge it.

Kill Bill Vol 2 was pretty good. I think it was better than the 1st.

Nautipus, I knew you were strange. Don't wory so am I. I want to see 30 Days of Night just because it's a vampire movie. Vampire movies are my fave in the horror genre.

Btw, anybody seen it yet?

A whole TEN!? geez, let me think...
1. Starship Troopers
2. Silet Hill
3. Blue Streak
4. Resident Evil: Apocalypse
5. Resident Evil
6. Band of Brothers (I know it's a mini-series, but who cares? )
7. 3:10 to Yuma (the new one)
8. The Ring
9. the Alien series
10. AVP

You'll notice there arent that many true horror flicks on the board, because, while

They arent coming out with many new good ones. I wish they'd make some of H.P. Lovecraft's stories into movies. And not made-for-TV ones either, actual movies.

And what I mean by good movies is...well, you have to decide what a good movie is for yourself, to me it is one that touches me in an intimate way, and i usually dont put those movies up on my top 10, because I cant watch them over and over. I dont know why. But movies like October Skies is one in my opinion.

Hehe, almost everyone here is *casts wary glance around room*

Vampire movies arent really my thing, but I'll watch em if they're good. I'm working on a looooooong story right now that involves vampires, werewolves, Dr. Frankensteins macabre experiments, and all other manner of Eoropean legends and stories involving the undead, and combining them into one story, which involves: intrigue, horror, and underhanded dealings by a huge pharmaceutical company. It aughta be good, at least I hope it will.

I agree. I'm glad to say that Guillermo del Toro, the director of Pan's Labyrinth, is a big Lovecraft fan, and plans to have At the Mountains of Madness in theaters for us in 2010.
