^ I don't think your driving habits will be justified therein, dear Anduril.
Can anybody suggest a decent book to read? I've been hankering after a good book, but I cannot seem to find one I'm terribly interested in. For some weird reason I've been wanting to read a ghost story (nothing in the 'horror' catagory, mind you) for a while now, and you'd think I could find such a book, but, alas, no such luck; and I've got a whole library to look through! Anyway... suggestions, anyone?

I'd also recommend a few of Edgar Allan Poe's short-stories (though they probably belong in the world of horror), if you haven't already read him.

I think I read an abridged version of that one with the ticking heart under the floorboards.... That was vaguely interesting. Funny you mention Poe- I was just reading Annabelle Lee a few hours ago.

Ah, Annabelle Lee is beautiful. A friend of mine memorized it, as well as a few other Poe-poems (like The Raven). Never got that far myself.

The Raven is terrifc. Chilly and haunting. I love that poem (although I've never gone so far as to memorize it). I've only memorized a handful of poems in my time. I've forgetten them all except Ode to My Goldfish:
Oh! Wet pet!

I must confess that I have never actually read a really 'scary' book. Somehow I don't see the written word as having the capability to really freak me.
I might take you up on that dare... 'cept I don't read with the lights low- it ruins your eyesight, you know!

...no you miss the point......only keep the light near your shoulder (ideal place for a reading lamp to be placed) and turn out ALL the other lights in the house.

Now dark houses scare me (yes, I am a self-confessed [greek for 'dark']phobia sufferer). I'm rather good at scaring myself, too.
I still might do it, just to call you dare. Dracula, huh?

Most assuredly Dracula. Take it to bed with something to drink and turn out all the lights in the house 'cause if you read in the main room you'll get too scared to go up to bed.

Oooh, I love Dracula! I read that book last October as part of my "New England Renaissance Era gothic horror reading month". Then I took it from the library at school and never returned it.^^;; I've been meaning to read it again.

Spock, I'll have you know that Rosie frowns upon such crude advances and hence will not give the above fetishist innuendo the light of day. Just a hint. |
