Cool Katya!
Yay Willow! Congrats! My happy thing: I survived today and got controlled angry with my kiddies for the first time.

Getting controlled angry is - unfortunately - a very useful skill for a teacher!
Good for you, Willow!

I tried to make a martini tonight but, sadness, we are out of gin. So I tried a rumtini since we're also out of vodka. >.< It was sort of meh, so I thought I'd try to turn it into a fruity drink.
Some dried cherries, a teaspoon of sugar, and a splash pineapple juice later I have a rather pleasant (if sharp) drink . It makes me happy to have been able to save my drink. I wish I had some sprite to put in it. >.< |

I had a truly awesome voice lesson today .
I've never really been able to sing an 'ah' vowel correctly... I mean it was 'ah' but it never sounded like it does when I say the word 'ah'. We fixed that, and suddenly my voice popped into this new, higher place and my voice teacher yelled, "THAT'S IT! SING EVERYTHING LIKE THAT!" O_o Which was rather startling. But yeah... Whatever I did, my voice is suddenly where it needs to be. Something clicked when I sang that 'ah' correctly and now everything in my voice is working better. |

Good work, Tessar!
That "Ah" vowel is the devil! I'm glad you got it all worked out! This teacher of yours is sounding better and better! Btw ~ what songs/arias are you working on? This might be more of a question for the Classical Music thread, but i'm just curious, as i always am where it concerns other singers I just started working on "S'altro che lacrime" (Mozart, La clemenza di Tito, Servillia's aria), and it's been one of those things that just settles in the voice so well that i was able to get it "into" my voice astoundingly quickly - which as you know, does not happen every day! My teacher said it's because it's so well-written, and it's smack in the middle of the appropriate repertoire for my voice type (light-lyric soprano). I'm working on a bunch of Purcell songs, as well. I love early music! Maybe we need a Singers' thread to chatter on and on about arias and technique, so we don't bore everyone to tears here while we talk shop.

The Volvo Ocean Race makes a stop in Stockholm
I like sailing boats and, as I missed last year's Tall Ship's Race stopover in the city, I'm happy to get this opportunity to see some international boats (even if they look nothing like those tall ships of last year )

My grandmother is taking me out to dinner tonight. Actually, I had planned something else, but she sounded so happy to go out with her eldest grandchild, I didn't want to refuse her. Now if only I could get in touch with my friend to tell her I had to change plans... >_<
I'm looking forward to tonight though If my grandmother is feeling good, she's great company!

I got my hair cut today, and I ended up discussing what I wanted with the hair lady (I usually don't bother... you typically get the exact same cut either way since it's just a chain-brand)... I said I wanted it short on the sides with a trimmer, but longer on the top to balance out my face.
Surprisingly enough she understood what I wanted, and then took it a step further by using a hair thinner... she chopped out what must have literally been a fist-sized bundle of hair and I looove the result! My hair is actually manageable now! It was so thick before that even using heavy gels wouldn't hold my bangs in place, but now it does, and my hair doesn't look thinned out or anything... it just doesn't poof out so much and it sits better. YAY! |

Yay!! I am no longer ranked as a "Hobbit". I am now an "Enting".
I blame that Singers' Thread!!! But just out of curiosity, when do we get a custom title? Everywhere else it's either "Lady of Andúnië" or "Lady of the Faithful". But i suppose i'll have to wait a few years (1000 posts or so?) to be able to use it here. I'm thankful that i can at least use my avatar. I guess that too is a reason to be HAPPY!

Ohhh, OK That's not too far off, especially of we continue to chat about singing! All joking aside though, it's all good. I'll get there when i get there. I was only wondering.

It's at 500, you'll become Elf Lord. And if you aren't very original, you'll have it customized to Elf Lady

It's indeed at 500 that you can pick a personal title. At 100 you become 'Elven Warrior'.

I found a Kimaasai dictionary!
I am incredibly happy about this as it means I'll be able to learn the language much more easily - and continue learning after I leave Kenya.
