You've got to admit, Quickleaf would make a good Ent name.

If I had come back after a long period I might make the same mistake.

But it reminds me that we still have two ents with us. I had almost forgotten them.

I'm very tempted to let Baru use her Narnian past for all it's worth, and use a clone of Lucy's cordial to bring Quickleaf back to life.

I won't do it unless the threadmaster tells me to, though - there must be a better way to resolve this.

Okay, for the record: Quickleaf has died once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I retired him back in September but that was because I didn't think I would be posting so much at Entmoot. I didn't kill him though... I left it open. Other than that Quickleaf was blind. But being blind isn't being dead

If you want to call my character or any other character an idiot, sure go ahead, but I'm not going to stick around when I read "an arrogant idiot elf". Doesn't look very intelligent and it's not very nice

This has nothing to do with characterizations in general, but with words you use. Idiot is insulting and clearly my first reaction (Wow) wasn't good enough.

ok im sorry for thinking he has died more than once my bad. but if you have a problem with words you have to tell us dont just over react and kill quickleaf. its just hurting your self. cutting you nose off dispite your face we say where im from. which is an other thing. we are all from different cultures, back grounds and countries. there are going to be words or phases that mean different things or have a different weight from one culture to the next, then there is the person value you put to words. i personally find some words harmful how ever i work with many different cultures and if i reacted in sure a way everytime i encounted something that upset me i would no longer have a job. you have to explain your self and how you feel. we would all understand. talking over the internet holds many problems and one of them is that non verbal communation is lost or the tone or tense in which a word is used. things that are ment in a playful or harmless way can have a different meaning if the reader intrupts it a different way due to his/her culture, mood or frame of mind.
this is by no way a "telling off" or anything like that but if you wish to continue in rpg's you have to understand that it is a meeting of different minds which is the whole point of it. and like in life you have to reach a middle ground and have allowences for other peoples ways.

To put in my two cents (or 50 øre) - I guess that 'idiot' is a stronger word in Norwegian than it is in English. So being called an idiot by a Norwegian would have been worse than being called the same by an English-speaking person (for your information, we spell the word the same way in Norwegian as in English - we've both got it from Greek - we just pronounce it differently).

And I won't call him an idiot. A littly silly sometimes, perhaps.

I get what you're saying Feawen, but it's something about thinking twice before you write something on the Internet, as you say.
This has nothing to do with culture. I've lived on three different continents in my 23-year life span and hearing words or phrases that would seem odd and even mean to some, but not to others, is not new to me.

As a bunch of authors in an RPG I'm all for discussion about characters. But when Me9996 asks who Quickleaf is and the answer he gets is "an arrogant idiot elf" that is waaaaay past crossing the line! Saying he's an idiot is neither constructive, truthful or respectful!! It tells Me9996 nothing, and without explanation it stands as an insult.

I've left the RPG, make no mistake. Quickleaf is a dead character. Maybe I'll use him some other day for some other writing. Although this is my first RPG I hope it's not my last. But in LLL you can consider him dead. Signed his author

*p.s. it's a shame Varnafinde (sorry at jeg ikke er med men det er grenser) because I was looking forward to finding a good window for our two characters to interact, but hopefully we can do so in another RPG here on Entmoot one day*
