Not that I don't remember the name, it's that it was in French, and spoken quickly by a classical music expert on a rather crackly radio.

maybe this will refresh your memory *whacks TB over the head with a tuba*

On my ipod right now I'm listening to one of Bach's Sonatas for Flute and Basso continuo ...good stuff. I'm really starting to appreciate Bach's largos and adagios.

"The Wasps" overture...
...
WTF!?

And in a less classical note, I downloaded a really funny jazz song called "Freddie Freeloader".

That is NOT classical , you get a ticket for mentioning a non-classical work in this thread.

I know. It bugs me too. But we don't have a jazz thread, and this is the closest I could get.

Poor Benny Goodman...he gets teased a lot for his transition from jazz clarinet to classical, and his recording of Copland's Clarinet Concerto gets made fun of a lot.

I'm recording the Grand Canyon, the Mississippi, and Death Valley suites for the Living Desert's use in the Discovery Room. I hope Grofe's been dead a while...

Yeah, dead long enough anyways....

Btw, is this Living Desert/Discovery Room aome kind of gymnastic-ish place? In that case, have fun watching the reactions of people when they hear the Grand Canyon Suite Priceless

LOL! I would love to see that.

However, it's not even close. It's the wildlife and botanical park I work at, and the Discovery Room is like a museum where you can touch everything therein.

LOL!
If I ever learn to write music, I'm going to continue Grofe's work as a bit of fun.

Yosemite Suite, Four Corners Suite, Monument Valley Suite, Niagra Falls Suite, etc.

There's already a Niagra Falls suite though...heck! There's a Hollywood Suite!

I'll write Tennessee Parks Suite. Boring, I know

What about Mt. Rushmore Suite? Four Presidents, thats perfect.

Ferde Grofe of course....as far as I know, he wrote six different suites. Maybe more.

Really? Hmm.
Wonder why they're not in my virtual box set...

Anyway, you'll never guess what I accidentally downloaded yesterday: the Second Rhapsody for Piano and Orchestra. (AND orchestra!) It was apparently hidden under the title "Rhapsody No. 2" when I did my initial search.
I also got the Cuban Overture and I.G.R. variations.
