A bit more:
See, Master Pippin, there is no time to instruct you now in the history of Gondor; though it might have been better, if you had learned something of it, when you were still /_i_d_-n_s_i_g/ and playing truant in the Shire. Do as I bid! It is scarcely wise when bringing the news of the death of his heir to a mighty lord to speak over much of the coming of one who will, if he comes, claim the kingship. Is that enough?

All correct. Just that last little bit.
*I forgot that I was the one who was posting and nearly posted the answer because I thought, 'Hey! I know that!' Then I realized WHY I know it. Haha.*

Well, I haven't been here in a while and I don't know the word, but I'll bet that the next to last letter in that word is an n.

you know... you're right.
I keep thinking this is the Narnia quote game thread, and I'm guessing the quote there, not posting.

Is the second half of the hyphenated word "nesting"? It's the only word I can make fit right now...
Also, has the speaker been guessed? I looked back and didn't see it, so I say it is Gandalf.

Yes. The second part of the word is nesting. The speaker is also correct; I thought it had been guessed, but it hadn't.
Hey, CC! If you come back soon, I forgot to mention... HI! It's been a long time since we've seen you! Hope you'll be hanging around a bit!

Yes! Birds-nesting. I don't know how Pippin was doing that, but that's what it is.
Your go, Princess!

"They always wished to talk to everything, the old Elves did.
But then the Great/_a_k_e_s/came, and they passed away over the sea, or fled into far valleys, and hid themselves, and made songs about days that would never come again. Never again. _y_/,/A_e/,/there was all one wood once upon a time: from here to the Mountains of Lune, and this was but the East End." Speaker: Treebeard?

Treebeard indeed - and everything else is correct, too!
And I noticed a small mistake of my own: _y_/,/A_e/, should be _y_/,/a_e/, No Capital A right there.
