Not much information is a bit of an understatement! I went to check the map in the front of my copy of FotR and found the area where Rivendell was supposed to be in the blank space at the inside margins. Most suspicious...

Now that's a good way to hide it, isn't it?

Yeah, Elrond definitely went to some lenghts to keep Rivendell hidden. His scribes obviously removed all references to Rivendell from the maps...
Luckily the Atlas of Middle-earth has a small drawing of Rivendell but precious little info on just how it looks before one gets to the buildings themselves.

I sent our draft to your e-mail, Varna, since it was a little long for PM.
This one should set up everyone meeting enough for you and Rian to jump back in, Earn.

I was reading the beginning of this thread the other day, and had to chuckle a little when we discussed how many posts would be needed before we could all meet up. I think we mentioned three or four.
Well, another tale that grew in the telling. Which is great I sometimes forget that a PM can only handle so many words. Yes, e-mail it is. *goes to read her e-mail*

Oh yes - the story would have been poorer without all those side-events we've explored. And we've built a better basis for the next part of the story this way

True, I very much liked the scenes we did at Tom's cottage. And I quite enjoyed hearing the stories the Rivendell-characters told the children there to entertain them.

I've put up my story (beta-read by Willow) about Rameldir's parents on the Ice on fanfiction.net.
One of my readers have put it among her favorites - that's a first for any of my stories We've PMed a little about it, and I told her that it was part of an RPG - and she will now join me on a different board where I'm still playing the first Barufiniel story. Hopefully she will also turn up here for RPing, when we've got the other one started - she likes First Age especially She hasn't RPed much, but she's written a lot of fanfiction.

Well the first half is up! It's all you, Varna.
I definitely enjoyed doing the flash-back story posts. It allowed me to finally articulate my head canon for Glor and see if others liked it; and if I had time to write fan fiction just for itself or to start another RPG, it would be to go more in depth about the Noldor crossing the Ice. Since I don't, you'll all just get bits and pieces as campfire tales as appropriate.

Just as I enjoyed doing the story about Erufailon saving Arindis' life. I have known about that event since 2004, and it was great to finally have a chance to flesh it out (and with a beta reader )
*goes back to work on part 2*

Heheh, so the guards didn't see Glorfindel but they did spot all five new visitors, so I suppose they've managed to pass the surprise inspection in some measure.
Nice post.

Just so you know, I have no intentions for who is sitting and who is standing of the two male Elves, nor for which one of them Rameldir seems to recognize.
The third one should be pleased to learn eventually that he was right about following a false path ... Have fun!

RÃ*an, will we be doing a joint post as answer, or will we each take care of our own characters' reply?
Ah, but will he be pleased to know the path his sister sent him on didn't lead to Rivendell or will he disappointed that his sister was right in that the path at least led him to people who know where Rivendell is?

Vindicated regarding the path's falsity, but disappointed at being located via Tra-la-la-lally style Marco-Polo...
Halweg's been found, but getting back to the valley might take some doing. Did you want to do a joint post for that, Earn?

Well, those Rivendell Elves Bilbo and the dwarves ran into, had to get that from someone.
A joint post would be good. How do you an Varna usually write joint posts?
