'Nuff said. It is anatomically impossible for snakes to talk. The only reason humans can talk, is because their thyroid has dropped lower, hence allowing elucidation of certain sounds that were not before deemed possible. And before you tell me that this snake was different, where is the evidence? Where is the hyoid bone from this snake that proves the positioning of it's thyroid was in the exact location it needed to be for this snake to talk? Or maybe it used mental powers! Maybe it talked to them telepathically. Okay, then why are the Broca & Wernicke's regions of the brain, respectively, not enlarged in the 'primitive' snake specimen, to point towards the ability for thought and process?

Im sensing an underlying debate about evolution, yay or nay. Also, a textual difference- the story of the Garden of Eden being exact truth vs. a metaphor for the story of creation.

If the Garden of Eden story is indeed metaphorical, why should the creation from Gen 1:1 be held as literal? In fact, why should we believe that God created anything?

I second that! You know, there are some people out there who interpret the Genesis section so metaphorically, that they interpret it to mean evolution. Huzzah!

I suppose if your religion was based solely on the text of the bible then you'd be stuck. Fourtunetly no major monotheistic religion is based solely on the text of the bible. The ones that tried (called Karaites) failed miserably.

If Satan could manifest himself then, why can't he manifest himself right now? Then maybe there'd be some real reason to look into the phenomenon of talking snakes - maybe Satan could choose a different form, like a talking TV...

If the snake was only a manifestation of Satan, why would God command all snakes to eat sand and crawl on their bellies? Just doesn't make sense...

Tarred, and feathered with the same brush, I guess. If I was Satan, I would manifest myself as a spotty pink unicorn. That's much more interesting than a snake thing with legs. Perhaps, the snake is a representation of the phallic nature of the bible, being "man-o-centric" and all....
