How old a dog? Mine's getting on in years and I dread the day that I either wake up and find her dead or have to carry her to the vet and put her down. Oh what a horrible day that will be....eesh... But I'll still have one young dog left. I'll probably go out and get another pound mutt.

Rosalie's a pound puppy.
She's about six months old, rottweiler mix.

Aha! It would explain her size for a six month old and her lack of potty training. Pound puppies rock. I'm thinking of getting a Shepard/Collie puppy from the pound. It's too cute to be killed. Does have some fear problems though. Either that or I'm getting my friend to adopt her if I can't find the budget for a third dog.

Yeah, Rosalie was due to be euthanized a few days after I adopted her. She's precious, full of love, very gentle and friendly.

My only reservation with this Collie/German Shepard is that it's female. I have NO luck with female dogs(or female anythings, for that matter). They just bat their lashes and wag their tails at me and all training goes out the window. Not so with male dogs, they are usually huge and rambunctious so we romp and play and I am the MASTAH!
The females I let get away with anything because they have all been so queit and such weasels! My old female, well, she is smart, and she is sneaky, so I can never discipline her. That and she is much cuter than my male dog. Nor does she rough house. So I'm not so sure where to draw the line with her. Bah! Females. |

I wanted a boy dog, but I met Rosalie and totally fell in love with her.

I don't get me wrong. My 'Lady' (what I call her, my other brother named her "Stinky") is very well behaved. Just not when my back is turned. It's like I have to haul her to court and provide evidence and an argument to convict her. She is very sly and does her best not to leave any evidence or get caught. For example jumping on the bed. She never does it when I am there. And she always leaps off and pretends to be sleeping on the floor at the foot of the bed as I come up the stairs.
She is a good actress, only, sometimes I run up the stairs and I catch her mid leap. I scold her and she doesn't do it for...maybe...a day after. And even when I don't catch her in the act, I can still see her great long black/tan hair all over the bed. Hah, love her though. |

That's shades of my dog, Rosie . She's a... well not really a 'pound' dog... high class pound dog . I got her from an animal defense league... soooo... yeah, actually it was a pound, just with a really high opinion of itself . I love her into tiny little bits and pieces . She is totally my baby, and she gets away with everything when I'm around. I give her bits of whatever I'm eating (although I'm rethinking that now after what happened with Lock--yikes), she sleeps on my bed, and I give her tummy rubs all of the time. In return she loves me, and... brings her half-eaten treats upstairs onto my bed -_-. I'm not sure if she's trying to share them, or what. I was a little disturbed to get in bed one night and find a potato skin (no idea how she got that--one must've fallen on the floor when I was peeling them) and marshmallo under my comforter. She's pretty good around me, though. She's not so obedient in particular, but she does the things I ask her to in her own sweet time . Not so much for everyone else, though... she's definitely my baby and she tends to be more obedient for me than anyone else. I love her to death. She really is like my child--so much so that my parents will refer to her as my daughter, and if they want her to go find me they say "go find daddy," and she knows it's me . She's just a little bundle of sweetness. Not to be weird, but I think she definitely fulfills a 'parenting' desire in me. I've had dreams for years about adopting kids some day, and she seems to help fill that void . Although I still want to adopt some day... way too many needy kids out there. Our dog, Kalle, is a dwarf-Schnauzer, 5 months old, has yet to graduate from the poo 'n' pee everywhere mode.
