I would name my children anything elvish, oh, sry, I forgot, I already did. Aragorn is an awsome name(and that's not just because he's my father that I say that) All the female names are awsome too. My kids will grow up eating, breathing, and sleeping Middle Earth

I agree that Éowyn is a very pretty name, but I always liked Arwen. Actually, I probably wouldn't name my kids after Lord of the Rings characters for 2 reasons.
1- You might (not saying this would actually happen) get in trouble. I mean, have you ever thought about it before? In all fanfiction, you have to put a disclaimer. Are you supposed to let your kids go around all day holding "I belong to J.R.R. Tolkien signs?? 2- There is a website I like that you can put in regular names and they'll change them to Elven, Dwarven, Orkish, and Red Book of Westmarch names. ((The Elven ones are the best.)) It's barrowdowns.com. I think some of the names there are prettier than the actual names in the book. Hehe. But seriously, there are a few names in the book that aren't really that pretty (and some characters that are even less pretty). I like Frodo and everything, but what kind of name is that, anyway?! It makes him sound like a frog. If you changed the d to a g, like his dad's name is Drogo. If you merged their names, it would be Frog-o. LOL!! Anyway, some of their names are normal names. I think J.R.R. Tolkien used some names that are regular and changed them. Like Aragorn -- it could be some twisted form of "Adam" or some such like that. You never know... he's not alive so nobody can ask him, can they?!?! --F. G.

The others followed; but Gimli had to be dragged away by Legolas: in spite of the peril he lingered by Balin's tomb with his head bowed. Boromir hauled the eastern door to, grinding upon its hinges: it had great iron rings on either side, but could not be fastened. "I am all right," gasped Frodo. "I can walk. Put me down!" Aragorn nearly dropped him in his amazement. "I thought you were dead!" he cried. ~~While Frodo, Sam, and Gollum are climbing the Stairs of Cirith Ungol, in The Two Towers~~ And so Gollum found them hours later, when he returned, crawling and creeping down the path out of the gloom ahead. Sam sat propped against the stone, his head dropping sideways and his breathing heavy. In his lap lay Frodo's head, drowned deep in sleep; upon his white forehead lay one of Sam's brown hands, and the other lay softly upon his master's breast. Peace was in both their faces. If that isn't a suggestion that they're in love, I don't know *what* is!!! |

If you know anything about the Middle Ages you would see that a lot of the names that Tolkien used were very rennesaince (I know I spelled that incorrectly but I'm in a hurry) and therefore anyone can use them.

some of the names that tolkien used are pretty strange. i wouldnt mind naming my kids after lotr characters but i wouldn't name them something like frodo or legolas (no offence to them but it would sound sort of weird in every day life).

The only Tolkien name I think I'd use is Lorien. Apart from that I would consider welsh names: Gwyneth for a girl and Ewan for a boy. I think welsh names are really beautiful, sort of Elvish-style.

I never thought of naming my kid of a place it Lotr though it would be interesting to have a girl named Lorien or Moria.
Maybe even have her middle name Mirkwood or Rivendell.

I think Laliath (Turin's siter who died) is a beautiful name and I would consider naming a daughter that. I would also maybe name a daughter Morwen, or have Luthien as a middle name.

I have a cousin named Durin. I think that's a cool name.
I think Arwen and Elanor are beautiful girl's names. I also like Theoden and Elrond for boys. Theoden could be shortened to Ted or Theo. Elrond could be shortened to Ron. They would still be Tolkien names, but the kid wouldn't have to get into it if he didn't want to. |

Yah, LotR names for middle names seems more acceptable.
Though the girls names would sound more normal. For example: it would be more likely to meet a girl named Galadriel or Eowen than a guy named Aragorn or Frodo.{though it still isn't very likely} |

I know someone whose middle name is Lorien. I'd name my daughter Dale. Not exclusively LotR, but I like it, nonetheless.

I saw on an episode of Family Feud once where there was a family in which there were two daughters named Arwen and Lorien.
