Rose, my mother, and I arrived back at the place the Writewraiths had originally been, only to find the everyone but Rhia had left.

"Hey, Rhia, come with us. We need to find the others!"

They weren't hard to locate. A voice that sounded like Faith's was screaming so loudly I thought, at first, that she was being killed.

"Lubyla! What's going on? What happened to, um, Fran?"

"We will help. But how did they get down there?"

*In the dark she blushes a little* Well, actually Zav and I didn't fall, we where attacked and forced down here. *She ignores the fact that Kathie is there. Instead she helps Star climb the rope, and climbed up herself. When she got up she noticed the others looking strangly at her, and back down the hole. One of them asked, "Is Fran still down there?"
I Asked what they ment, then relized...again, that I was no longer Belladona. "No, she was never down there..."

*blinks at the light, and fiddles wit ha necklace. It is a buterfly, rimmed with gold and inside it is silver. from the bottom, two "tails" hang* Thank you for getting us out.

I gave Faith a quizzical look, but instead of explaining as she usually would, she simply ignored me.

I shrugged. Sure, I was sad that Faith wasn't speaking to me, but to quarrel at such a time would be petty and useless, and I knew any conversation we held now would become an argument.
"You were attacked?!"

"Wait Star-Starletta. Where did you get that neacklace. I know that neacklace!" I practically threw myself of Starletta, grabbing at the neacklace. Sure enough when I held on to it the from changed, so slightly, into the form of a cat! "STAR! STARLETTA! YOU"RE, YOU"RE! EEEEEE!"

<Hello, Calien.> That voice could only belong to one creature: Terwell! I looked down, and sure enough, the young fox was there. At that point I heard Faith scream something to Starletta, but I barely paid any attention, for this was my first true reunion with my best friend in many years.

"Terwell!" I stooped down and hugged him, something he would allow only me to do.

<You recognize me, then?> He sounded pleased. <Welcome home.>

We have a mindlink, a mindlink like Primrose and Cyrell's, yet unlike theirs, for ours has been around nearly since my birth. I could remember my mother's stories of how she had had to flee while pregnant with me, and how she had, through the actions of Primrose Brandybuck, been attended at my birth by that hobbit and a small company of foxes. And how Terwell was born only a little later than I. Our natural mindlink meant that rather than one of us dying when the other did, if one of us would ordinarilly survive at any given time, we both could. (In other words, to kill one of us, you must kill both of us.)

"Not really a grove of trees...in fact it was more like The Wise. And though I may have acted a lot like a hobbit I was a person. A human girl." I reached in my pack and pulled out a notebook. I knew that Kathie recognized it, though I had never shown it's contents to her, nor showed it to her at all. But I opened it up and showed it to Star, the first page where lay the handwriting of a seven-year old.'to never forget me by.' and after with flowing script. 'A friend is the strongest link...'

The memories that were returning to me were not all pleasant, however. Gently, I touched a thin scar that lay just over my heart, remembering how the Link had saved my life that time.

I turned to Lubyla and asked quietly, "did you know?"

I sighed and followed Lubyla back to camp, feeling very sad. When Faith had opened that notebook, it made me realize how very close, indeed, I had come to forgetting about her. And Faith ... didn't need me anymore, she didn't want to be my friend now. I would let her and Star have some time alone.

I had lagged behind my mother and Lubyla a little, hoping, I think, that exactly what happened next did. Faith called me back, and I returned, popping in from out of nowhere as I often did, startling my friend and Starletta.

"An old friend?"

My heart leapt. Was Faith from Middle Earth too? If so, maybe she wouldn't blame me for being from ME now!
