so, if you say "undeservingly", what was he squealed on for? and if he was "undeserving" of punishment, then why would anything bad happen in court? the classic, "if you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about", i suppose.

I don't agree that if someone has done something that you personally don't agree with that makes them an unlawful individual.
Infact, not because something is law means that it is right either. I don't know what this person was doing, but a good expmle would be marijuana (not because I am jamaican) and the fact that it is illegal and cigerettes aren't. So, my point is, don't be too quick to judge son. Give a man a chance. It's only the american thing to do.

Especially wine, and of those especially port. Can't stand most American beer, but imported stuff is good, sometimes. I like some of the harder stuff, too, especially cognac.

Smoker also am I, though not of ciggies; pipe, hookah, occasional cigar. Much goodness.

Well, that's what he was doing too. He sold his stash to that idiot who I mentioned earlier, and who then got arrested for something stupid and irrelevant while it was still in his pocket. And my friend isn't a citizen of the US, so if he was caught he'd be screwed. It turned out OK though.
