I do too . He loves doing crazy stuff like that-he's known for it. Awesome guy overall, everyone that I talk to tells me how much they love him. I'll post more in a few days.

Nice pics. Your brother is mental. Like it; looks cozy actually. Bet it isn't.

There are now a total of 92 IAW images - I will post five a week, if that is ok?

Elleth, I really like the one where you can see the shape of the waves in the ice. That's really cool. How long did it take for that ice to form?
GW, it's not about the number of photos per se, it's more about making choices. Which pictures do you think are most beautiful and worth sharing? Which pictures tell the nicest stories? I like your pictures, but sometimes I wonder why you took a picture of something. If you post only 3 or 5 it's easier to ask and refer to it.

I will indeed keep the number of photos down to 5. These pics were chosen, originally, for a group called Images & Words on a site called multiply.com. One member, chosen as a host for the theme of the week, posts a new blog entry each Sunday with either a chosen or free theme. The wishes of the other Mooters I will accept. Ahem, anyway, Mari makes a good point, Grey_Wolf. It's about choosing what is worth sharing. I have thousands of photographs myself, but only a handful is worth sharing and will be posted here. After all, this thread was about talking about photography in the beginning. Sharing photos has since then somewhat moved centerstage and that's perfectly okay, we like to see other people's skills with the camera! But we're still a forum and not a photo archive. So being a bit selective about which photos we post here is not a bad thing. It means our best work will get more attention and appreciation.

Thanks! I think it took about two days-the first day we went it had only been snowing for 24 hours. But by the next day almost the whole lake was frozen! It was a ton of fun to walk on it.

Quick pic taken in the car about a week ago-the sunset was so vivid I had to share.
More pictures from the lake! The first day we went we threw rocks out to see how much was frozen and they made a beautiful sound, almost like hitting a wood xylophone. Another photo of the waves! The shore dropped off before the water-this is what it looked like under that curb.

Wonderful winter shots, EV!
Thanks, Val & Earn! Much obliged. I do get to be a bit over-enthusiastic when I want to share pics with you all. Last edited by Grey_Wolf : 02-09-2011 at 05:55 AM. |

That's really nice, Elleth. It's hard to believe that everything in the second pic is frozen.

A couple more from today-it snowed again and the lighting was beautiful, so I took a couple photos.

great shadows, EV! i really like how you did that; you saw something other people didn't. at least that's what your photos suggest. i've started appreciating that more and more the more photography i've done: seeing photos of something that is there, but is not completely obvious.
here are a couple of new photos of mine; i seem to be in a very b/w phase at the moment. my brother visited us last weekend.. he just got out of the army. bye-bye says the fish in sealife.. the rising - a photo i took in the studio yesterday. awesome model (and even more brilliant friend). skrik - or the scream, as i like to call it.

Nerdanel, I love your photos. The picture of your brother makes me laugh-I hope he wasn't actually angry!
I'm also in a B&W/faded color stage. I think it makes the light in photos stand out (I'm not the expert). Both the picture of the fish and those with the model are breathtaking.

hehe, thanks! no, he wasn't angry - perhaps slightly bored. it's certainly easier to focus on the light in monochrome images - lots of colours distract from that. but that's only one reason why b/w is so nice, i'm sure.
glad to hear you like the photos!
